The Proper Puppy PNW

Lori and her training program are truly worth their weight in gold. If you are searching for a trainer who is honest, trustworthy, knowledgeable, consistent, reliable, and genuinely passionate about what she does, you could not be in better hands. I recommend Lori to everyone I know without hesitation. We have a 7-month-old golden retriever, Lila, who will be continuing on to formal service dog training for our son with a disability. Lori has laid an exceptional foundation that will allow Lila to succeed in future service work. Entrusting such an important first step to someone else is not easy, but Lori exceeded every expectation. Lila completed a six-week board-and-train with Lori, and we were consistently impressed by the level of care, communication, and expertise. Lori provided daily updates and videos, thoughtfully explaining what she was working on and why. It never felt like Lila was simply “away at training” we felt involved, informed, and supported the entire time. Lila came home calmer, more confident, and exceptionally well-mannered, and we came home feeling educated and empowered as owners. Seeing how strong of a foundation Lori has built has made us incredibly excited and confident as Lila moves forward into her future service-dog training and the meaningful role she will play in our son’s life. That peace of mind is priceless. Lori is an exceptional trainer, and we are deeply grateful for her.

Our 10 month old puppy, Honey, stayed with Lori for 4 weeks of training and it has been a total game-changer. She is an anxious pup and was barking at everything that passed by, was not reliably potty-trained, was nervous to go on walks, would run away if let out the front door- basically our family was really struggling with her. The post-training Honey is a different dog. She recalls on the first call, will heel for walks, has stopped nuisance barking and just seems to feel so much better in her own skin. Lori is very professional and responsive. We are so impressed and grateful to her. It is such a relief to have this sweet pup now. Highly recommend!

Molly spent four incredible weeks with Lori, and she truly blossomed into the best version of herself! Lori's training methods were not only incredibly effective but also easy for us to continue seamlessly at home. We had complete peace of mind knowing Molly was in such great hands while she was away. Molly came home mastering "hold a down" for over an hour (or until released!), along with solid sits, reliable recalls, confident drops, and so much more. We're amazed by her progress!

I got a new puppy that I knew (if not trained right) would/could be both a handful, and a potential problem. So I searched for a trainer that would help equip he and I with the tools needed to be successful- Lori and the Proper Puppy PNW did not disappoint!!!! Lori was such a patient, informative, and professional trainer! We learned so much through her puppy basics course that by the end he was able to go off leash and do a full recall at 6months old! In our last puppy session today, I got emotional (in a good way) seeing how far he’s come, and how amazing he’s doing because of Lori! You will not regret working with Lori and the Proper Puppy PNW- you will have someone with you every step of the way, she is fast with responses if you have questions between classes, sends homework promptly to keep the momentum going, and she creates custom course work based on your puppy’s skills, ability to learn, and their breed/temperament. I cannot say enough good things, and I am just so grateful to Lori and the Proper Puppy PNW for all we’ve learned.
