Island Dog Obedience

I'm very pleased with the 2 week program that my 8 month old German Shepherd attended. Raya is a great trainer and really focused on key area's that my pup needed help with. From the public socialization to building my pups confidence up the overall experience was worth it. She is much more tolerable in public and around people and dogs. This training really helped me connect better with my pup as well. I also really enjoyed the daily video and picture updates. Raya was always helpful and was always availabe if i had any questions throuhout the boarding program.

There are not enough words to describe how unbelievably thankful I am to Raya. In the two week Board & Train she was able to completely turn our sweet girl around. Our dog Lily is incredibly strong and she would pull to the point that I could no longer take her on walks. She also used to lunge and growl at every person and dog that walked by because of how protective of us she is. Raya sent us videos, pictures and information daily throughout the process and seeing Lily’s progress became the highlight of my day. Since we’ve picked her up, I have been able to take her on multiple walks a day and she hasn’t lunged at a single person or dog. I feel like Lily is getting a new opportunity at life where she can explore and be happy. I could not recommend Island Dog Obedience or Raya enough.

We enrolled our dog Kane into the two week board and train program and it was excellent. Raya explained everything we needed to prepare him for training and sent us pictures the whole time he was with her. He had a great time and learned so much, and I really think he’s happier and more confident because of it. I’m very grateful to Island Dog Obedience for being so responsible and caring with Kane, and for being honest and communicative with us.

I had the pleasure of having Raya, Island Dog Obedience trainer, work with our year-old mini dachshund, Riev, who was extremely difficult to train. Even after the 11 weeks we spent in a basic obedience class. She pulled at the leash until gasping, lunged at other dogs, and ignored even simple commands like “come”. Riev is very sweet and loving, but a terror with other dogs and very destructive; demolished a small sofa, chewed up rugs, chair legs, pillows, to the point of eating a sock that meant a visit to the emergency vet. Raya’s training was a blessing to our household and Riev. Through her expertise and knowledge of the nuances of dog behavior she helped Riev become a great family member and trained us to be better pup parents. Raya’s videos and photos of Riev in training and responding so well in varied situations like parks, stores, beaches, and other dogs taught us what was possible with our little rascal. It is such a difference to be able to go out and about with Riev alongside. I am forever grateful to Raya, her caring and positive training of both Riev and us. Raya is an exceptional trainer and exceeded all our hopes, it has meant so very much for our family!

*Update - We were so happy with the training provided for Kirra; we reached out to have Ozzy (6 mo old terrier) trained. Again, Ryan knocked it out of the park. Ozzy was very nervous/fearful around other dogs and people. He would bark at them on our daily walks. Besides basic obedience, Ryan also worked on socializing Ozzy. After training, we took Ozzy to doggy daycare, and he was able to be in the room playing with other dogs within the first hour! (During his evaluation, he didn't even make it in the same room as the dogs). He even made a few puppy friends and showed off his obedience commands to the workers. Both of our dogs are now thriving thanks to Island Dog Obedience, and especially Ryan. We sent Kirra to Ryan for the 2-week board and train program. She is a rescue with a lot of energy and Ryan was able to help her focus and learn some basic obedience. She is now able to be trusted alone at the house (outside of her kennel) and does a lot better on her walks. Ryan helped her build a great foundation that we can continue to work on to grow and mature. He took the time during graduation to teach us how to continue her training.
