Walking With Walter Dog Training

The team at Walking with Walter trained our daughter’s service dog, Apollo, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. They took the time to truly get to know our family and understand exactly what our daughter needed. The training and support they provided to us as a family were fantastic, walking with us through every step of the process, and we brought Apollo home feeling confident and prepared. We believed he would be life-changing for our daughter, and he truly has been. When the time eventually comes for Apollo to retire and she needs another service dog, we will absolutely return to Walking with Walter!

Absolutely amazing trainer for my 2 pups! We have struggled to find the right trainer that actually helps with the problematic behaviors we have been experiencing. After just a few sessions my VERY reactive dog is able to walk comfortably around any dog and doesn’t jump on strangers walking by. Leash pulling is no longer an issue for either pup and their engagement skills have improved greatly. I’m amazed how fast they learned and how much easier walks have been. Definitely the best trainer and I would recommend to anyone!

We sent our 2 year old English Cream Golden Retriever, Franklin, for a ‘board and train’ at Walking with Walter, fully expecting to come home to the same lovable goofball… and we did.. just the polite, well mannered, “I suddenly have my life together” version! Lawren is basically a dog whisperer with a side hustle in human training. He didn’t just teach Franklin how to behave; he taught us how to stop accidentally undoing all his progress. His instructions were clear, practical, and delivered in a way that made us feel like we could actually follow them without needing a PhD in dog psychology. Franklin adored him and came home happy, confident, and shockingly well behaved, and we felt completely at ease the entire time. If you want a trainer who gets real results and who can gently coach the humans (looking at me, the pushover mom), Lawren at Walking with Walter is the one. And if Franklin (or his humans) ever slip, we know whose help we’ll continue to seek.

Lawern and Trin truly saved us when we got our first puppy. We intentionally waited to write this review because Lawern always said, “We’re training the dog you want, not the puppy you have.” Now that our pup is over a year old, we finally understand exactly what he meant. We brought Julep home at 12 weeks and hired Lawern right away. My husband and I had never had a dog before, and she honestly fell into our lap. She’s an Australian Shepherd/Old English Sheepdog mix; adorable, but way more work than we ever expected. Like many people, we got her because she was so cute, not fully realizing what we were signing up for. Julep turned out to be slightly reactive to other dogs (likely genetic), dominant, and very stubborn. But the biggest thing Lawern and Trin did wasn’t just train her—they trained us. Now that she’s over a year old, we’re finally seeing the results of all that hard work. We still hand-feed her every day because it keeps us connected and reinforces structure. Because of that, she doesn’t resource guard. She also no longer lunges at dogs on walks, which once felt impossible. One of the biggest breakthroughs came from training in our apartment lobby—having her calmly watch other dogs instead of avoiding them. At the time, it felt like it wasn’t working, but over time we saw her emotions regulate and her entire outlook change. Puppies are hard. It often feels like you’re making zero progress… until one day, it all clicks. Dog training is so much more about the humans than the dog, and I’m incredibly appreciative of everything we learned to help our girl. Of course, we’re not perfect—she still loves to jump sometimes (and honestly, we let it slide because it’s cute). But the connection and control we have with her now is all thanks to having such great trainers. If you’re considering working with Lawern and Trin, do it—you won’t be disappointed. Just know that if you have a puppy, you need patience and commitment. It’s worth it! Thank you!
