We brought our dog Bo to David when we were really struggling. Before training, Bo was extremely difficult to handle. Walks were stressful, he pulled constantly, and we were dealing with some concerning behaviors at home, including nipping at my youngest son. We knew we needed professional help. Working with David completely transformed our dog. The difference is honestly night and day. Bo now walks calmly on leash, listens to commands, and is so much more balanced and relaxed. His personality has really come through now that he has structure and guidance. David was patient, knowledgeable, and clearly understands how to work with dogs and their owners. He not only trained Bo but also taught us how to continue reinforcing the training at home. We are so grateful for the work he did with our dog. Bo is now a joy to walk and be around, and our home feels much calmer because of it. I would highly recommend David to anyone who needs help with their dog.

Having never worked with a dog trainer I was really hoping to avoid the nightmares that others have about working with multiple trainers before finding the right one… well, I couldn’t be more happy with the learning and teaching that my wife and I have been able to take away from Dave and goes without saying our German Shepherd “Wess”. We brought our 4 month German Shepherd to Dave, and completed a 1 week board and train in August to lay a foundation for Wess and us, and most recently just completed another 1 week board and train to build on that foundation and start off-leash and e-collar work. The investment has been well worth its weight in gold and every time we have brought Wes’s back to our Home you can immediately see the impact the training has had on him, but more importantly we are able to learn how to continue Dave’s training techniques and incorporate them at home with the follow up training sessions that are part of the training program. We look forward to continuing our training with Dave in April, and also utilizing his Board program when we go on vacation this summer. I wouldn’t think twice about recommending Dave to anyone with any kind of dog and would recommend to any prospective person thinking about a dog trainer to think twice before going with someone else… there is a reason he has five stars across all these reviews Thank You Dave, Mike & Kari

Jeff is our 11 month old 10lb Havanese. He displayed dominant behavior utilizing his ear splitting bark to get his way. He got fired from the dog sitter for being so “loud and annoying”. We live in an apartment so crate training was difficult. Jeff would scream and cry and we didn’t want to bother our neighbors. We also were feeding him too much and too often. He was so crazy he wouldn’t settle until he literally exhausted himself and fell asleep. I’d walk him multiple miles and let him run around the park and he’d still be nuts at home. Dave took Jeff and established a base line for his behavior. He fixed his feeding. He was great at teaching us humans how to maintain and invest in Jeff’s behavior. We’ve had Jeff back for a few days and he’s been amazing. He sleeps in the crate through the night. He’s calmer and able to settle himself. As Dave says he “knows the party is over”. I’m so thankful for Dave and what he accomplished with Jeff. My friend referred us to Dave. Jeff is the 4th dog I know that has been through his program and all 4 went from criminals to calm young gentleman.

We cannot recommend Dave at Trouwe Hond K-9 highly enough. Dave worked with our Cane Corso, Draco, through a two-week board and train program that truly took his basic obedience to the next level. From the start, it was clear that Dave is exceptionally skilled, confident, and experienced—especially with large, powerful breeds. The progress Draco made was incredible. His eye contact, listening skills, and overall obedience improved significantly, and we were able to fine-tune his foundation training to begin protection work, which Draco absolutely loves. Just as important, the training built confidence not only in Draco but also in us as handlers. We now feel completely comfortable bringing other people around him, knowing he will remain calm, focused, and well-behaved. Dave’s ability to create structure while maintaining a positive, trusting environment made all the difference. Draco absolutely adores Dave and is always thrilled to return for touch-up sessions. Seeing the genuine joy and excitement Draco shows when reuniting with Dave weeks later reassures us that a strong, loving bond was built during training—one that will continue to grow over time. If you are looking for any type of dog training, especially if you own a large, “scary,” or misunderstood breed, Dave is the trainer you want. His calm confidence, professionalism, and deep understanding of dogs set him apart. We will absolutely work with Dave again for any dog we own and recommend him without hesitation to anyone seeking top-tier training.

Both my wife Amy and myself can't thank Dave enough. We had planned a vacation to visit family on the west coast and were not able to cancel. In the interim we added Duke a 3.5 lb 4 month old Yorkie to our family. We wanted a safe place for boarding and training. Saw the reviews for Dave and reached out to him. Duke did not pay attention to us and just seemed to not want to listen. We chalked it up to being a puppy. Dave let us know that Duke had a dominant personality and a leader of the pack mentality. Well after a week with Dave and the follow up session, Duke while still a puppy is obediant and really thriving. Dave treats each dog on a one on one basis.
