Trouwe Hond K-9

We truly cannot thank David at Trouwe Hond K-9 enough for everything he has done for Zoe — and for us! When we first started working with David, Zoe was a rambunctious, strong-willed Rottweiler puppy with endless energy and definitely a mind of her own. We knew she was going to grow into a big, powerful dog, and it was extremely important to us that she was well trained and that we knew how to properly handle her. The difference in Zoe today is incredible. David didn’t just train her — he trained us, too. He taught us how to communicate with her, stay consistent, remain confident and in command, and understand what she needed from us. He gave us the tools and confidence to continue her training at home and throughout her life. Watching Zoe grow from that crazy puppy into the well-behaved, confident dog she is today has been amazing. She is still our goofy, loving, playful Zoe with all the personality we love — she just understands her boundaries and what is expected of her now. We are so incredibly thankful for David’s patience, knowledge and dedication. You can tell he genuinely cares about the dogs he works with and wants their owners to succeed just as much as the dogs. ​If we could give more than 5 stars, we would! ​We tried at least three other dog trainers before finding Dogman David, and none of them even came close to what David accomplished. Before the 2-Week Board & Train program, Uga was a very skittish and fearful dog. Now, I see Uga’s confidence growing every single day, and he is so much less scared than he used to be. ​What really sets David apart is how well he works with the owners, too. I loved the one-on-one sessions both during and after the board and train—they were crucial for helping me realize what I was doing wrong. David makes learning so easy, and I welcomed every piece of constructive feedback he gave me as an owner so I could step up and be the best leader/alpha Uga needs. ​If you’re feeling hopeless after trying other trainers, do yourself a favor and bring your dog to Dogman David. He truly transformed our lives!

I sent my 1 year old pomsky Lumi to David’s 2 week board and train program. I was so anxious to leave her for 2 weeks, but David sent me lots of updates and photos throughout her stay and made me feel at ease when she was there. You also get to go there and train with David and your dog a week into the program. Lumi had a lot of behavioral problems- very dominant, separation anxiety, barking constantly, trying to eat random things on walks, having accidents in the house, not walking politely on leash… I could go on and on. This dog was running my life. I really needed help with her training, I was babying her and it was just getting worse. David is extremely knowledgable and has taught me a lot about dog training. Working with him during the private sessions included with the board and train program has taught me how to have Lumi walk politely on a leash, greet people calmly, distraction training, understanding a variety of dominant behavior and how to correct it and so much more. David will have you take a lot of notes during training, and he provides packets of additional training information to help you when you bring your dog back home. David’s dog training expertise and the knowledge I have learned through working with him is priceless. Her separation anxiety has improved immensely, she used to howl and scream if I would leave the room, now she is quiet and has a calmer demeanor. She tries to challenge me sometimes, as David warned me she would, but now I know how to correct her. I realized that a lot of her bad behavior and anxiety stemmed from my mistakes and not training her correctly. Now that she has structured training as we continue to work with David, she is more confident, happy and all around a much better behaved dog. She’s actually eager to learn and gets so excited to see David when we go to training sessions! If you’re struggling to train your dog, or considering a board and train program but nervous to do it- coming from someone who has extreme anxiety and hates being away from their dog, trust me, send them to David. He is the only trainer I would trust with my dog.

A long overdue review but a much deserved review for Trouwe Hond!! Jack Daniel’s stayed with David for a 2 weeks board and train in April 2025. David’s knowledge and expertise is truly amazing- he is a complete natural with dogs. The hardest part by far was having to leave Jack for 2 weeks but David sent me pictures and updates throughout his entire stay which as a dog mom I SO appreciated. Although it was hard to be without my boy, I do not regret any of it. David taught us everything we needed to know to keep up with Jacks newly learned manners. It was definitely a learning curve for us as owners but he was so patient with us and made sure we were comfortable and confident in everything we learned. And.. a special shout out to David’s wife! Jack is a big mamas boy and she totally helped fill that void during his stay ❤️ Thank you again so much!! Looking forward to working with David again as we just recently brought home our new puppy!
