Took our dog, Kelce, for some training. She was a reactive dog and jumped up on people when they would come to visit. Left her for two weeks: think it was harder on me than her. Liz was her trainer the entire time. She kept us updated by videos and pictures everyday. Could see Kelce learning new positive behaviors as the days went by. Liz taking her out in public several times was a definite plus. I want to take her out with us more, but couldn’t before the training. When Liz brought Kelce home, she didn’t just drop her off and say bye. She took a lot of time taking us outside with Kelce and showing us exactly how we should continue the training. We even received a book on the commands to use, so we stayed consistent. What’s really awesome, is the fact that we are given support if Kelce needs some refresher classes. We found The Dog Wizard after finding our precious rescue, Angel, was becoming increasingly aggressive after her first 6 months in our family. I scheduled an evaluation to see if they thought we could get a better result if she was trained with them. As with almost any dog... of course it will work! I know that now. Lol. Bri's evaluation and the follow through for the stay and train program put Angel in Liz's hands. From the first moments of meeting Liz it was evident she had skills to envy as a dog owner. Turning our baby over to her management/handling has proven to be the best decision for us as well as for Angel. We are now in the first week following training and are finding her bad habits are nearly gone. I can walk her on "heel" and manage the reaction to people, bikes, cars, golf carts. While not 100% compliant yet, I can tell this journey has been so worthwhile. Our commitment to the process was not as I feared and Angel is on her road to perfection. Liz gave Angel a reset I never could have imagined and, more importantly, would never have been possible on our own. Four months ago we adopted our pup, Winnie, at a local shelter when she was 11 months old. She was a stray so there wasn't any history on her behavior or background. Winnie is a small mixed breed weighing 25 pounds. Currently my husband is limited in his physical activity as he waits for his back surgery, so I am her main caretaker for walks and potty breaks. We have always had dogs but never experienced a highly reactive dog. Well, to my great frustration, Winnie was highly reactive to everything!( squirrels, dogs, bicycles, bugs up a wall, kids on scooters, bikes, golf carts, so just about anything). When I say reactive, I mean lunging, barking, growling and acting aggressive. She also pulled me down reacting to a neighbor's dog that I didn't see, and I am 6ft tall and fit. We did attend a 6 week live training which helped her while she was inside but it didn't help her reactivity outside. I then attended an online training for reactive dogs. The concepts used made sense but the practice sessions to desensitize her were impractical as we live in a busy condo community in a city. The thought of having to surrender her back to the shelter was heartbreaking so we made a decision to hire a behaviorist as our last hope to help her and us. I called a few behaviorist trainers that my Vet recommended and wasn't too happy with their methods. I found Dog Wizard during a search and decided to take advantage of their free consultation. We are so glad we made this decision. Winnie attended the board and train Jumpstart Foundation course and Liz Colon was our trainer. I cant believe the difference in her behavior after just 2 weeks with Liz, an amazing transformation. Liz's skill and experience as a trainer is evident with her firm but loving approach. She has given our Winnie the confidence and trust to be the best pup. We are beyond thrilled with the outcome and she has only been home for 3 days. Liz has already checked in with us and provided more help for me so I can continue her training and progress.
