Reliable recall is a core part of our dog training philosophy. We go beyond the actual behavior, helping your dog develop a strong desire to return to you. Through trust-building exercises, reward-based reinforcement, and confidence training, we ensure that your dog sees you as their safest and most exciting place to be—no matter the stressors or distractions.

Trust-based dog training focuses on building a strong relationship between you and your dog through clear communication, leadership, and mutual respect. Instead of relying solely on obedience, we prioritize understanding your dog’s needs and motivations. This approach leads to long-term behavioral change, making your dog more confident, responsive, and eager to follow your lead.

Do you use positive reinforcement in your dog training?
Yes! Our dog training programs incorporate positive reinforcement techniques alongside gentle course corrections when necessary. We focus on clear communication and trust-building, ensuring your dog understands what behaviors are appropriate. Our goal is to create a calm, confident dog who listens because they trust you—and not because they fear you.

How do you stop dogs from pulling on the leash, especially during hikes or walks?
At Strong Bond Dog Training, we take a trust-based approach to leash training. Instead of forcing your dog to walk in a rigid position, we teach them that leash walking is a partnership. We help your dog understand that being on a leash still allows them to meet their needs—whether it's sniffing, exploring, or moving at a comfortable pace. We also guide you in choosing the right leash length and walk style to create a stress-free experience.

Yes! We specialize in training reactive dogs by addressing the root cause of their behavior. Whether your dog displays fear-based reactivity, aggression, or anxiety, our training techniques focus on building confidence, trust, and calmness. Yes! The best thing you can do is start puppy training early. Your puppy is always learning—so the sooner you teach them boundaries, communication, and leadership, the easier it will be as they grow. Our puppy training programs focus on socialization, leash training, basic requests, and trust-building, ensuring your pup grows into a well-balanced adult dog.

A psychiatric service dog is trained to assist individuals with mental health conditions through specific tasks and behavioral support. Our service dog training program is designed for both the dog and the handler, ensuring they work as a team. At the end of our training, we offer a psychiatric service dog certification to qualifying teams.

What is the difference between obedience training and trust-based training?
Obedience training focuses on making the dog comply with commands, often without addressing the root cause of behavioral issues. Trust-based dog training, on the other hand, looks at why a dog is acting a certain way and teaches them through communication, leadership, and relationship-building. This leads to lasting behavioral change instead of just quick fixes.

Alex and Christine were lovely to work with! Alex helped me get back on track with how to best work with my dog. I learned new perspectives about my sweet pit-lab mix, as well as useful tools that made me more confident in leading him, able to learn from and with him, and to continue bonding with him. Thank you so, so much!

We had a great experience with Strong Bond. Alex and Christine worked with our crazy schedules, and were consummate professionals. We have a now-4-year-old pup who was born about a month before Covid hit; she never had any socialization with people or other animals. Alex gave us the tools we need to move forward, by creating trust and understanding. Highly recommended!

I had been having trouble effectively communicating with my dachshund for some time. He loved to ignore me, and I loved to get anxious and frustrated. Exhausted from our dynamic, I found Alex via Strong Bond Dog Pack. I started with the one hour consultation, and Alex throughly explained his background and approach as a dog trainer. Hopeful in his holistic approach, I signed up for the 6 week course. During those 6 weeks, I learned to listen to and communicate with my dog, getting to a place where I think we both have gained trust and confidence in each other. I will say, I had tried training with a different trainer before and I was basically given no tools or insight, other than the suggestion for an E-collar. Alex takes the time to get to know your dog, and you, and gives you the tools to make you both successful. In summary, I am happy with my experience and would definitely use Strong Bond Dog Pack again if needed!
