Reliable recall is a core part of our dog training philosophy. We go beyond the actual behavior, helping your dog develop a strong desire to return to you. Through trust-building exercises, reward-based reinforcement, and confidence training, we ensure that your dog sees you as their safest and most exciting place to be—no matter the stressors or distractions.

Trust-based dog training focuses on building a strong relationship between you and your dog through clear communication, leadership, and mutual respect. Instead of relying solely on obedience, we prioritize understanding your dog’s needs and motivations. This approach leads to long-term behavioral change, making your dog more confident, responsive, and eager to follow your lead.

Do you use positive reinforcement in your dog training?
Yes! Our dog training programs incorporate positive reinforcement techniques alongside gentle course corrections when necessary. We focus on clear communication and trust-building, ensuring your dog understands what behaviors are appropriate. Our goal is to create a calm, confident dog who listens because they trust you—and not because they fear you.

How do you stop dogs from pulling on the leash, especially during hikes or walks?
At Strong Bond Dog Training, we take a trust-based approach to leash training. Instead of forcing your dog to walk in a rigid position, we teach them that leash walking is a partnership. We help your dog understand that being on a leash still allows them to meet their needs—whether it's sniffing, exploring, or moving at a comfortable pace. We also guide you in choosing the right leash length and walk style to create a stress-free experience.

Whether your dog displays fear-based reactivity, aggression, or anxiety, our training techniques focus on building confidence, trust, and calmness. Yes! The best thing you can do is start puppy training early. Your puppy is always learning—so the sooner you teach them boundaries, communication, and leadership, the easier it will be as they grow. Our puppy training programs focus on socialization, leash training, basic requests, and trust-building, ensuring your pup grows into a well-balanced adult dog.

A psychiatric service dog is trained to assist individuals with mental health conditions through specific tasks and behavioral support. Our service dog training program is designed for both the dog and the handler, ensuring they work as a team. At the end of our training, we offer a psychiatric service dog certification to qualifying teams.

What is the difference between obedience training and trust-based training?
Obedience training focuses on making the dog comply with commands, often without addressing the root cause of behavioral issues. Trust-based dog training, on the other hand, looks at why a dog is acting a certain way and teaches them through communication, leadership, and relationship-building. This leads to lasting behavioral change instead of just quick fixes.

Alex is far more than a dog trainer but he is pro at that too. Alex is a wise and gifted coach. He knows that all change (related to K-9 or not) starts with the self. I went to him for dog training and shortly discovered he was really offering me "personal training" which then in fact changes your dog. I took his tools and applied them liberally to puppy, my mothering and marriage. I learned a lot and so did my precious canine Viola.
I appreciated his deep soul approach to life and personal transformation through the lens of man's best friend.
If you want change, its through connection and Alex has a well organized program, which I appreciated as a fellow body health wellness coach, with structure and techniques that work. He is an expert and really knows his stuff- human and K-9.
Loads of gratitude.

Alex’s Strong Bond Dog Pack approach helped me establish a trusting relationship with my new puppy, Rumi. His experience, patience, gentleness, and clear boundaries immediately endeared him to Rumi and to me. His inquiries and self-reflection prompts helped me to explore “if I were Rumi, would I want to follow me?” so I could be a better human pack leader. Rumi is THE BEST dog I’ve ever had off leash and the most sensitive life companion, thanks to Alex!

Wonderful! Started training as puppy and this team helped us learn skills to keep training long beyond our last session was done. Amazing training for the pup and for us on being responsible owners. Focus was on communication, love, and shared experiences, i.e. being a family pack. Thanks so much for everything!

Alex is a natural leader that leads the pack. I was amazed how my dog easily communicates with him and responds so well to his training plan. My pup still gets so excited whenever we see Alex while walking, this proves me how great impression he left on my pup. I respect Alex and really appreciate his practice and highly recommend him.

Alex and Christine are awesome! They are great dog trainers and have really helped us be better dog owners. Working with them has greatly improved my own leadership skills and my relationship with my pup. From their book to their hands on guidance, their thorough approach will help you better connect with and understand your dog’s needs.
