Strategic K-9 Training

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I rescued Tate in April of this year and right away I knew I wanted him to gain a sense of stability and routine. The shelter I adopted him from recommended training just from what they knew of his past. I did a lot of research but ultimately found a Reddit post recommending strategic k-9. What drew me in initially was the technique that they use, most importantly the avoidance of treat/food rewards. Tate is my first ever dog and I knew I was looking for a training built for both him AND I. Going into the training, I had had Tate for about 6 weeks and had a good idea of the things we needed to focus on in training: the biggest ones being basic leash training, sit/stay/down, remaining calm when people come in and out of the house, reactiveness (to dogs on walks, other people etc.) and just getting comfortable with each other. I signed up for the Advanced Program and it was definitely the best option for us. I wanted discipline training, off leash control, better recall, and better interactions with other people and animals. Joe came to our house each visit for private sessions, making Tate feel really comfortable during each session. Strategic provided a chain collar, 20’ leash and e-collar for us to keep (and will replace if anything happens to them) and took the time each session to make sure both Tate and I were comfortable with them before moving onto the next step of training. Overall, the attention to detail was awesome and Joe has the patience of a saint. Tate is now great on a leash where he doesn’t pull and is much better at controlling his prey drive, he can be off leash and come to me with no issues (maybe a tiny issue if a bunny is in eye view but comes after initiating the e-collar), remains calm and sat when guests come over, AND is no longer afraid of the bathroom. The best part is they don’t leave you after the 6 weeks is over. They offer follow up sessions, are open to panicked texts and now offer day care. Overall, a huge success!!

We highly recommend Strategic K-9! Joe helped us gain a better understand and perspective as to how dogs think and behave while also teaching us the proper ways to address a few problems we had started to notice. Our 18 mth old BMD has gained a significant amount of confidence thanks to the knowledge and tools Joe left with us and we have be able to fine tune basic commands as wrll! We continue to use the methods and undoubtedly see improvement as time goes on. Our family is grateful and look forward to expanding on his training with Strategic K-9 in the future!
