Strategic K-9 Training

I met Joe and his staff from Strategic K-9 Training after a search for help with my 2 year old golden retriever, Cody. Walking with Cody was painful and a huge game to see how much he could pull/drag me around the block. Very unpleasant and not a good "bonding" time. I have no personal connection to Joe or anyone at this facility but have to say that within minutes of working with Joe Cody was mesmerized! He was focused, attentive and obedient..right by his side awaiting the next command. I thought it was a fluke until Joe taught me how to work with my dog, on my own and in my own neighborhood. Cody immediately worked with me as he had with Joe once he knew what was expected! I cannot thank Joe and his staff enough for helping me get control of this situation. Other lessons were equally successful and now Cody is a pleasure to be with! Jumping, pulling, not listening in general no longer exist as problem behaviors. It is very easy for me to maintain training now that formal lessons are complete. I am eagerly awaiting the next round of training as working with Joe and his staff is effortless and productive!

I cannot recommend Joe and his team enough for their outstanding training program ! After reviewing multiple training programs in RI, we landed on Strategic K-9 Training because of their one on one approach right at your home. We adopted our dog Rue in November of 2022 and after trying a few basic training programs at pet stores and online, we new it was time to bring in a professional :) Rue is deaf, and her safety was our greatest concern. She was eager to learn, but my husband and I were the ones that needed the education and training just as much as Rue did. We knew on day 1 of our consultation that we had made the right decision. Their training style was explained clearly and directly and every question we had was answered open and honestly. This training is just as much about your dog as it is about the owners. You are given all of the tools each lesson to then implement and practice with your dog over the course of the next week or two until your next training session. All of the trainers are so passionate about their work and were beyond responsive in between training sessions to answer any questions that came up ( no matter how silly you may think they are.) We are enjoying Rue so much more now will calm walks, great recall and all over better manners inside the house :) We were so sad to have our training end last week, simply because we looked forward to our time with Joe and his team but so excited that they are now offering a social group that we can drop Rue off at during the day for some fun, safe and structured play. Thank you again to the entire team, we were so lucky to have found you guys!

We had a great experience working with Joe. We brought our 1ish year old GSD to him to work on her leash skills (as she was a puller!) as well as comfort with greeting strangers in the house and general obedience. During our initial meeting, our pup was very hesitant, barking at one of Joe’s trainers and showing a lot of anxiousness. He gave us tools to correct her behavior and tactics to use to show her that we were the ones in control so she wouldn’t have to be/feel/act reactive. We learned how to have her “heel” and “stay” to introduce folks to her in the house (to prevent her reactivity to visitors) and also switched us from a harness to a chain collar for her walks, which, combined with teaching her to “heel” and walk at our pace, made a world of difference. We wrapped up the training sessions several weeks ago but the lessons stuck strong and our girl is so much better behaved now that taking her on walks is a dream! Thanks Joe and team!
