I highly recommend Ridgeside K9 of Charlottesville for any of your dog training needs. Specifically our trainer Wynn was truly the best. He took the time to really get to know my dog during our weekly sessions. Each session was engaging, planned out, and thorough. Doing weekly training sessions as opposed to a board and train worked the best for us and while it took lots of homework, I could not be happier with our results. I will continue to go back to him with any of my future dog training needs!

February 22, 2025 our family rescued a 3yr old female Newfoundland; little did we know how drastically this would change our lives.
To make a very long story short, she began resource guarding my husband and I immediately. She bit both of our girls out of fear (everyone is ok). We were devastated as we have had Newf’s for 20 years and never dreamed that a Newf could be aggressive. The choices were put her down or train her but who could we get to take this on; TRENT ASHMAN that’s who, he saved Minnie’s life and our family from the chaos we were living in, the stress, fear and anxiety…we were all falling apart. The initial meeting was hard and Trent was brutally honest with us and let us know exactly what we were facing, we had to do some serious soul searching and make some gut wrenching decisions which we did as a family, all had to be in agreement. We left Minnie that day and every day for the four weeks she was training with Trent we got updates, there were lots of emotional calls but he never gave up on us or Minnie. This man was as invested in saving this dog as much as we were and teaching us to live safely with her in our world. She is a big beautiful floof and I wanted her to be like my other Newf’s; Trent taught me to love Minnie for who she is and not expect her to be what she is not. I had to accept and love the dog in front of me. It has been a huge challenge with huge learning curves but we are learning everyday. I swear I felt like I was driving Trent nuts with all of my calls and messages but he has stood solid and supportive and never waivered and always said “we got this”. Minnie is home and has more confidence, less fear and is accepting the world around her. I guess you could say a miracle happened in Charlottesville. We have a ways to go but with the daily, weekly, whenever we need it guidance that Trent gives we are gonna be good. Minnie is gonna be good. Trent is the only person I 100% trust with Minnie and he will be boarding her whenever we go on vacation. This was the best decision we could have made and we are so glad we did. We are forever thankful for Trent and his knowledge, patience, caring and understanding. He is our hero and Minnie’s too. She has even learned to swim and turns out she is an awesome boat dog.

We turned to Ridgeside k9 Charlottesville when Chloe's aggression, which was previously just towards dogs outside our home, escalated to aggression toward her "sister" dog. We did not want to rehome either dog, but we also knew it was no longer safe to have our dogs together. Chloe did a 4 week board and train aggression program with Wynn. Our other dog joined her for the last 10 days. The girls came back completely reformed. They are back to getting along! In addition, Chloe is no longer reactive on walks, no longer pulls, and is able to be obedient in public with loads of distractions. Entrusting our dogs to someone was stressful, but Wynn alleviated the stress by keeping us informed daily. He and Ridgeside k9 Charlottesville are wonderful!
