Pawsonal Training

We have now had 3 dogs go through this program! We could not be more pleased. The first two dogs were good dogs with no manners and an owner (me) with no patience or time to do their training justice…enter Shannon…she changed our lives. The girls were great after spending two very short weeks with Shannon. Following their training even my young child could walk a 100 lb dog with no issues. Fast forward…we foster failed with a third dog who was terrified of everyone, everything, and we were scared she was going to hurt someone out of fear. We reached out to Shannon who took Zuma for four weeks and worked with a dog that we really thought was beyond hope. Zuma came home a changed dog …not cured, that was never the intention, but a dog that had confidence and tools for her and us to help Her be successful. Fast forward again to 3 months after Zuma’s return. We are all better dog owners. We have all learned new technique’s and how to work with all of the dogs in a different way. I have to be honest and say that we were near surrendering this dog before Shannon’s help. I’m Grateful for her help, knowledge, Compassion and friendship On this dog journey. You won’t regret this investment in your family.

We are so grateful for Shannon and Pawsonal Training! We brought our two dogs to her as a last resort and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. Our pups needed to address some serious aggression and reactivity issues towards people, other dogs, and each other. Their relationship drastically changed after we brought our home our baby, and despite some prior training, their reactions and behavior towards each other. We sent them to Pawsonal’s board and train program and the difference in our pups had been night and day. Their anxiety and nerves have drastically decreased while their obedience and confidence have skyrocketed. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the work Shannon put in with them, and the personal care and attention she showed our dogs. Even though 6 weeks away from our dogs felt like a long time, we received detailed updates on what the dogs were working on, video tutorials to get us ready for life back at home, and plenty of videos and pictures. Shannon left us with the tools to keep their training going in home, and remains extremely accessible to answer any questions we still have!

I contacted Shannon for a consult call after reading about her work with anxious, reactive dogs - which our 4 year old Labradoodle, Oliver definitely had become. He did well in early obedience training as a puppy, and we had some success with later training, but it was inconsistent at best, and his anxiety and unwanted behaviors increased. Shannon was patient in answering all my questions about her training methods, as it was important to me that the training was positive, not negative/punishment based, which I feared would only increase his anxiety. Her rationale for the use of the e-collar system (not electric shock), and how it is used as a "tap on the shoulder" to get the dog to focus on you only to reinforce commands he may struggle with when distractions and/or anxiety are present, put me at ease. We signed Oliver up for the 4 week Elite Obedience program for reactive/anxious dogs. While it was hard to send him away for so long, Shannon was again reassuring about how he would be busy enough with training that separation anxiety would be unlikely, and would definitely remember us and "home." She again took time to share helpful information at pickup about what he would be doing, and answer additional questions. We were impressed when the videos with her assessment and explanations started the next day - she very quickly identified his issues and explained how she would be working with him on impulse control and building confidence. The videos of both her working with him, as well as the e-collar system were thorough and taught us a lot. They are helpful to have as a resource to look back on. Oliver's progression over the 4 weeks was amazing! His ability to be focused in many situations that normally would be anxiety inducting is truly remarkable. He even had a chance to participate in scent work (which he already had some positive experience with) in a Barn Hunt setting, and did very well. I was reassured seeing that Oliver was getting plenty of praise and belly rubs/pets during the training as well. At turnover, Shannon again was very informative, and walked us through practice with the e-collar system and all the commands Oliver had mastered. Her direction for transferring what he had learned during training to how he behaves back at home was thorough and so encouraging. We've been practicing consistently for the past week he's been home, and already are noticing a big difference in his overall demeanor and behavior.
