How long does it take to train a dog or puppy?
It depends on the dog or puppy's age, breed, and the behavior being trained. Basic obedience can take a few weeks to a few months, while advanced behavioral issues and engrained bad habits can take longer. It is also very important that the owners follow through with the strategies learned during the training sessions. If bad behaviors get to continue in the trainer's absence, training will take longer.

Private dog or puppy training sessions are $120/hour. There are discounts for purchasing 3 or 6 lesson packages. The amount of sessions needed will vary depending on the dog's specific issues that need to be resolved and the amount of follow through from the owner outside of lessons.

Absolutely! Older dogs can certainly learn new behaviors. It may take longer than with puppies due to the length of time the bad habits have been part of the dog's daily routine. With consistency and patience however, dogs of any age can be taught proper manners!

I want to express how happy I am with the training that my dog Kane got with Rachael! He's a 160 pound mastiff mix and he has a mind of his own so walking or even getting him to pay attention was a chore. After a week of board and train with Rachael I can honestly say walks are enjoyable and he even sits before going out the door! So much more manageable and much more fun to have him around! Now if she could just stop the slobber :) I highly recommend Paws Down and Rachael and will utilize her skills for my other dogs!

A BIG thank you to Rachael for her help with the training of our two rescue dogs one which is deaf. We signed up for six lessons to get help with numerous issues. First and foremost, our one dog had anxiety/fear issues due to someone in our neighborhood setting off fireworks while we were on a walk just after dinner on New Years Eve. Rachael gave numerous tips and helped by walking our dog while teaching both the dog and us the best way to handle the anxiety. We also had help with getting them to heal, stay, and not react to someone at the door. We also took them into an outdoor mall setting to get them to listen to our commands even with many distractions. Our dogs no longer chase after rabbits, cats, react to other dogs or people while on walks. She did a great job training our dogs and us and it has made a big difference to our every day lives. I highly recommend her!

Rachael is awesome! Very easy to get a hold of and to schedule with her. She worked with me and my pup on leash training and made it very simple for me. She was successful at getting him used to walking on the leash in a short amount of time and gave me simple instructions to keep working with him. If you want a good trainer, contact her. You won’t be disappointed.

Rachel is AMAZING and has helped train our super high energy GSP. She is kind, caring and gave Bailey extra love too. Bailey has been much more obedient since we got her back home and we look forward to continuing training with her!
