How long does it take to train a dog or puppy?
It depends on the dog or puppy's age, breed, and the behavior being trained. Basic obedience can take a few weeks to a few months, while advanced behavioral issues and engrained bad habits can take longer. It is also very important that the owners follow through with the strategies learned during the training sessions. If bad behaviors get to continue in the trainer's absence, training will take longer.

Private dog or puppy training sessions are $120/hour. There are discounts for purchasing 3 or 6 lesson packages. The amount of sessions needed will vary depending on the dog's specific issues that need to be resolved and the amount of follow through from the owner outside of lessons.

Absolutely! Older dogs can certainly learn new behaviors. It may take longer than with puppies due to the length of time the bad habits have been part of the dog's daily routine. With consistency and patience however, dogs of any age can be taught proper manners!

She’s very practical and loving which helped our 5lb pomchi puppy, who has confidence and anxiety issues feel relaxed, just during our second meeting. We are retired and travel often, and we wanted him to be more adaptable and less nervous in various situations and environments. She gave us work to do at home, which was super helpful and we were thankful for her easy tips to help our puppy with his specific issues. Some of our dog’s issues stemmed from us, and Rachael was not judgmental and really kind in helping us too.

Wonderful experience. Rachael helped our dog (mini golden doodle) learn better leash manners (was pulling), stop jumping on guests and stay in place. Most of all she taught us parents (and our daughter) how to train the dog and what tools (e.g leash and treats to buy). We had called a different dog trainer first and were told the only way to help our dog was one week of boarding which was going to be thousands of dollars. I called Paws Down Dog Training and she said she could help in 1-2 hr lessons. I said I’ll buy the three lesson package and she said, you will only need two max, I don’t want u to buy more than u need. Such honesty and fair pricing. She came to our house right on time and even stayed a little while extra. Could tell she really cared about the outcome and our dog. Highly recommend

I 1000% recommend Rachel! After failed training with another company I felt a little defeated with my 50lb Australian Shepard, Bear. Rachel took the time to listen to my needs, frustration on what wasn’t working, and the very small time frame I had before moving out of state. She communicated her thoughts and how to approach training. After one session Bear was responsive. I took what Rachel taught and applied it to each daily walk. Bear had severe dog reactivity on walks to the point he’d lunge and almost flip in the air. I’m so happy to say when we encounter another dog he is aware of the other dog but does not go into a heightened reactivity. Thanks Rachel!!

Rachel was incredible! We worked with her for our 4 month old puppy and we are so happy with her training. She was very communicative with us and took the time to educate us and make sure my husband and I each understood the training. Our pup is quite smart but also quite stubborn and Rachel gave us so many tools to work with him and help him be successful!
