FirstBarkAshley was fantastic working with our 3-year old golden retriever. We focused on setting boundaries (for an overly affectionate dog), impulse control and leash manners, and we have seen great improvements following just two weeks of training. She was very responsive to our inquiries and our dog loved working with her!

Welcome to Pavlov Dog Training! We train Portland’s most charming family dogs. Select from two training formats: board and train, or private dog training. Are you looking to upgrade your dog’s manners or resolve a behavior issue? We can help! Private dog training consists of weekly visits from a certified dog trainer. Your dog trainer will assess your dog’s specific learning style, and compose a training program based on your needs. At the end of each training session, you will receive clearly defined homework. Board and train may be ideal if you prefer to contract out the lion’s share of work to a professional. Your dog will sleep in the cozy home of a Pavlov dog trainer and train throughout the day.

Clear, direct, effective instruction and our stubborn Frenchton pup Stilton has responded quite well. He obviously loves Ashley, too! The continuing education builds on the structure he learned during the boarding and the consistency and reinforcement seems to be working well. All on all a 5 star experience I would recommend.

Leaving your dog with someone else for three weeks can feel really intimidating, but Ashley made us feel comfortable from the very beginning. She was friendly, professional, and clearly very knowledgeable. Throughout the three-week board and train program, she stayed in regular communication and sent helpful videos explaining the commands and techniques she was working on with our dog. When we got him back, we were beyond impressed. He is so much more responsive to commands, and we feel much more confident in continuing to work through the behavioral issues we originally brought him in for. The training didn’t just help our dog — it helped us understand how to support his progress too. It’s also very reassuring to see how much our dog loves Ashley and how well he responds to her. That alone speaks volumes about the care and time she puts into the dogs she works with. The experience was completely worth it, and we’ll absolutely continue going to Ashley for our dog’s training and boarding needs.
Ashley is great. Our rambunctious Brussels one year old girl Heidi spent two weeks working on various things with her. And we had follow-ups with Ashley and our dog is behaving much better. Her spirit is still there, she just listens a lot more. We highly recommend Pavalov!

We had a wonderful experience with Ashley at Pavlov Dog Training. Our hard-headed but sweet staffy mix went through her 2-week board and train program, and the results have been amazing. Before training, we were feeling frustrated with his lack of obedience. Now he looks to us for instruction and genuinely wants to make good choices. He’s more focused, more responsive, and so much more enjoyable to work with. The biggest difference has been in everyday situations (i.e. greeting guests calmly, listening when we give direction, and no more jumping or chaotic behavior). It’s made such a positive impact on our home. The investment was absolutely worth it for the peace of mind and long-term results. We’re so grateful for Ashley’s guidance and highly recommend her if you’re in the Portland area!
