I’ve only had two lessons with Joey and have already seen an amazing transformation with my German Shepherd. I had previously had him trained with a different dog trainer who used spike and shock collars. The training didn’t stick. Within two weeks of seeing Joey, my dog WANTS to learn, he looks forward to training each day. I am so excited to give my dog the life he deserves because of the trust we are re-establishing with eachother. Anyone who has anything negative to say about this school just doesn’t want to listen. Unfortunately, if you have a dog with behavioral problems (like I did), you need to do the work yourself.. and that means sitting there and listening. I’m only two weeks in and I can tell you it’s worth it. Thank you Joey! We are so grateful to have found you.

Our experience with Joey at Ohio State K-9 College has been absolutely incredible. When we brought our dog Boone in for his evaluation, he received zeros on everything except the “Down” command — and even that he only obeyed while on-leash and indoors. We were shocked at how much work we had ahead of us, but also encouraged by Joey’s confidence and clarity. To be honest, I was very skeptical in the beginning. I wasn’t sure that such a transformation was possible, especially in such a short time. But after just a few sessions, Joey has completely earned my trust and respect. His knowledge, experience, and dedication are undeniable. Fast forward just six days into the program, and Boone is already sitting and heeling willingly, staying on command, and showing clear understanding of the “Down” command. Joey’s teaching method isn’t just about training the dog – it’s about training *you* as the owner. I’m learning how to communicate with Boone in a way that’s clear, consistent, and effective, and my wife and I are both enjoying every step of the process. Joey’s courses are in no way comparable to other schools. The structure and depth of the training offered at Ohio State K-9 College are unmatched. Whether it's Basic Obedience, Behavior Modification, or Advanced Off-Leash Control, Joey’s been doing this since 1978 and it shows. The study guide on his website lays it out clearly – no gimmicks, no shortcuts – just real results through proper education of the owner and dog. If you take a look at Joey’s Guard-Dog video, you’ll see what’s possible. One of his students, Tom, never even needs to get out of his chair to maintain 100% off-leash control of his Belgian Malinois – an aggressive breed that’s notoriously difficult to train. That’s the level of mastery Joey brings to every lesson. We’ve only just begun, and I’m already amazed at Boone’s transformation. I can’t recommend Joey and Ohio State K-9 College highly enough. I was looking to rehome my 4 year old male 140lb Rottweiler. One of my friends had told about this place he sent his dog to for training called Ohio State K-9 college. He told me to call to see if they had any recommendations. The trainer/owner told me to give him sometime to look around. He called me back with in 10 minutes with a recommendation. It just so happened to be one of his students who loves Rottweilers more than I do. Never thought that was possible. I met his student. Took my big boy over to meet him and it put my mind and heart at ease. Just watching him handle my dog was a sight. I could tell he knew exactly what he was doing. Such a sad process but with a beautiful outcome. All thanks to Ohio State K-9 college. I highly recommend this company for your dog. They really do care. He will get the job done. My 110-pound daughter recently got her first dog, a “Giant Schnauzer.” I was concerned that if we didn’t train her properly, the pup would grow too big for her. I researched training schools, talked to others about their experiences, and considered different methods. Some trainers use choke or spike collars or treats, but I didn’t want my pup to be hurt or bribed to obey. My main concern was that if we resorted to inflicted pain or bribing, the pup might develop anger towards my daughter and potentially hurt her. Worst-case scenarios kept running through my mind. I came across Joey Byas’ website and started with the negative reviews, but nothing in those reviews convinced me or proved that Ohio State K-9 College was a scam, especially after reading the website. It’s packed with informative knowledge if you take the time to read it. We read the entire website and took the online test, and then we called Joey. To our surprise, he answered his own phone call. My daughter and Joey had a long but informative conversation, and we scheduled an in-person assessment. When we arrived, Joey commanded his Belgian Malinois to greet us on his first command. If you know how hyperactive and protective this breed can be, you’ll understand how impressive that was. Joey started training our pup, and to our astonishment, she obeyed on the first command: “First Command.” My daughter and I were speechless. Initially, I was skeptical that he could train her with just voice commands, but I decided then and there that we were signing my daughter and her pup up for training. No other school I researched could demonstrate their methods so effectively and safely. Now, if you’re seeking someone else to train your dog, this school isn’t the right fit for you. If you’re looking for a one-size-fits-all approach, this school isn’t suitable for you. If you’re not consistent, present, or unable to follow through, this school isn’t the best option for you. However, if you have a deep love for your dog and are committed to developing a long-lasting, trustworthy, and respectful relationship, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Joey! Joey truly is a MASTER TRAINER. He is very passionate, proud and kind and he comes with a wealth of knowledge that no other school could provide. Looking forward to our weekly training. I have been interested in getting my dogs the proper training for a couple years. I came across Ohio State K-9 College online and checked out their website and was impressed by the way Joey broke everything down… You can tell he had the knowledge, experience and dedication to training dogs.I studied the study guide and took the test. Today I called and Joey answered, and we talked he went over everything I needed to know and was very patient with me..He told me about the school’s Facebook page and I checked it out and was blown away by the videos of him training and working with the students.. And also the videos of the students themselves..I’m setting up my evaluation and can’t wait to start my training.I’ll leave another review after, I’m definitely excited.
