Northern Tails Dog Training & Intuitive Animal Communication

Updated 2025. Another rescue dog, this one 113 pounds of jumping, biting, clawing puppy. I was sure this was the dog that would do me in. Nope. Called Lisa. Got good training on how I need to respond to undesirable behaviors to make them stop. Of course, it worked, because there’s no better dog trainer than Lisa Lucas. I took her advice, got a cookie sheet and never got jumped on again. Six months later, I have a dog that walks on a leash, comes when called and never jumps on people. Before you get frustrated, call Lisa. She can train you to train your dog. She’s literally a miracle worker. We’ve used Lisa’s services twice. I work a lot, so I chose to live in an apartment with a shared dog yard. I adopted a senior Labrador a couple years ago and he was a nightmare. I was scared of him he was so dog aggressive. He also wasn’t leash trained and could and did, pull me off my feet. A couple private sessions with Lisa and he started becoming a different dog. Now, I don’t know how I’d live without him. A few days ago, a couple small dogs charged him barking. He didn’t even look back. Totally different dog. Doesn’t pull on the leash, never bolts out the door. Totally different dog. Recently we reached out to Lisa for help because our doodle had stopped coming when he was called. We finished our third lesson with Lisa and our dog is drastically improved. Drastically. Lisa knows how to watch a dog and tell you how to respond so you get the behavior you want. She doesn’t lecture a lot of nonsense about being a pack leader, she demonstrates and watches good positive training techniques. 100% would recommend Lisa and Northern Tails to anyone.

We started the puppy classes with a very shy golden retriever called pixie. She was very scared of other dogs after getting tackled by an unleashed dog at 11 weeks, and was shy meeting new people. Since the classes she has had so many positive interactions and has gained confidence. She can sit, stay, leave it, and is getting better with leash walking. Her confidence in new situations has also grown and she wants to get in the car now instead of running from it. :)
