Misfits Dog Training

We rescued our dog Bowie as a puppy, not realizing how big and rambunctious he'd be. Super friendly, but he had zero focus—wanted to greet every person, dog, squirrel, chipmunk, bird etc. We had to keep him leashed all the time, which was tough living in the mountains. On leash he was always pulling himself to almost strangulation, making it a challenge to take him on walks. What stood out about Misfits was that they really listened to our concerns, unlike other places that had a set rigid program, that Bowie would just be a part of. Our main goals were better leash manners and reliable off-leash control, especially since he’s a large dog who used to pull like crazy. Misfits tailored the training to what we needed, focusing a large part of the program on the concerns we had. When we picked him up, it was night and day. He now comes right away when called, sits in front of me, and waits for a release. On leash, he walks calmly, even around distractions. If things get busy with other dogs, I can put him in a 'heel' command, and he walks calmly by my side, focused solely on me. The indoor training was icing on the cake, now if we are having dinner, or having people and other dogs over we can put him in "place" command if he is getting overly excited, and he goes over to his bed, lays down, and waits to be released. We’ve always had dogs, but none as strong and curious as Bowie. Now he’s amazing. Pretty sure this just became the best money I've ever spent, with Lasik after 20 years falling to the number 2 spot. Huge Thanks to Misfits Dog Training! I can’t say enough good things about Misfits Dog Training and how much they’ve helped us with our 2-year-old Bloodhound mix, Bruno. Before training, walking him was a challenge—he would pull like crazy, hardly listened to commands, and was especially reactive to dogs and people. It felt like he saw every encounter as a threat, making outings stressful for all of us. Now, after working with John, Bruno walks so much calmer on a leash and actually listens! We’ve even passed dogs on the street without him lunging, which is a huge win. While he still has work to do with his reactivity—especially within our complex and on hikes—we’re excited to continue training with John. Not only has this helped Bruno, but it’s also given my partner and me more confidence in handling him, making our day-to-day life so much easier.
