I think Roger is a man who is very knowledgeable about hunting and cares about the health and well being of your dog. He had my Harley for 3 months and gave him a great start to his retrieving life. I look forward to sending him back for refreshers and trust that Roger will continue to push him forward. He continues to follow my “misadventures” on Facebook as my puppy grows into a big boy. Roger is a wealth of knowledge and I would highly recommend.

To all who know us and for those of you who don't, please come and check us out before you make a decision on where to send you family friend for training. Some of these reviews are very hurtfull. We may not have a state of the art training facility, but we take care of our animals. Even our own animals stay in our kennels. Some people do not understand the things we do because they do not want to know. They bring us strange combinations of breeds and want us to make hunting dogs out of them. You cannot make a hunting dog out of a pitbull/boxer. People also do not understand that we only instill the basics, it takes years and hundreds of thousands of dollars to make an champions hunting dog. In our three month program, we get the basics instilled. When your dog is ready to go home. we teach you how to continue this basics with your dog at home. You must follow up with your animal everyday it is all a learning curve. You cannot just take your dog home and let them go back to there old ways and in 3 or 6 months expect them to do what we have taught them to do. Please also note that one of the people that left a bad review on this page is now on a local hunting page and is bragging about how wonderful of a hunting dog he has. Roger came highly recommended through friends. After 4 weeks at his facility our lab matured in numerous ways; she is leashed trained (we tried Petco training for this and they put a "Halty" on her for tugging--far more oppressive than the small chain collar we now use per Roger's training and recommendation), she listens to commands infinitely better, is calmer, and overall much more respectful of our home. She clearly knows which toys are for her and a quick "leave it" works each time if she is attempting to grab an item (such as my daughter's toys left on the floor) that are not hers. When we go out of town, we plan to make the trek from Phoenix to Payson to leave our dog with Roger--we would chose his kennel over Petco and others.

I have known Roger and Candra May of Mayday Retrievers for quite a few years. Three years ago I got a new pup and Roger helped her learn how to retrieve and started my hunting dog training. Roger has always been available to help when problems arise with training and I have trained with Roger on many occasions. If you are looking for a good trainer, give them a call or visit their facility. It is always so much more fun to hunt with a well trained dog.
