Mayday Dog Training

I found Mayday dog training off of yelp. We were very impressed with the reviews. I gave him a call for a prospective service dog I wanted to train. He was very honest with me about his thought after hearing her traits. Thus we waited until we could get a different dog. He won my trust over by not immediately saying it would work out. As I was fully ready to pay the amount necessary to train the dog. I was nervous as I didn’t know anything more than what the reviews and speaking to him on the phone before doing the full package of training. I have heard nightmare stories of folks spending thousands and the dog not being properly trained. YOU GUYS! This guy and his staff are awesome. Don’t look any further! Nick has amazing communication. He was so patient with my daughter at pick up, and was very interactive and good at instructing her with the dog. Our dog is training for service. We couldn’t be more impressed with what they accomplished in time we trained in! He also really cares about the dogs, and gave a really comprehensive lesson in implementing the training at pick up to make sure we understood how to get what is expected out of her. We asked a lot of questions, and he was very good at answering and explain the ‘why’s’. It is one thing to be a good dog trainer, and another to be a good instructor. He is both. He also made sacrifices for our family in time of great need to us. Definitely a business with integrity, with down to earth trainers. You will be given honest advice. Mayday dog training is here to create teams. As such you have a bargain to uphold to your dog to keep them in shape and trained up. They are the real deal. Pleased to be giving them your business!

Nick is a very professional dog trainer. We were having issues with our pit mix reactivity towards other dogs, as well as obedience in general. Nick was able to address all of those issues and explained to us the follow up steps we needed to keep practicing at home (consistency is key). Additionally, Nick offered boarding services after training since we were out of town when our dog was due for pick up (which is great because they keep training your dog!). Nick also provided updates via text messages and tagged us in Instagram posts when our dog was out in training. He also answered all of our questions during the 15 day-training camp. His training facilities are super clean, well-maintained and appropriate for all types of dogs; and his staff is very professional and informative. I would highly recommend this academy for dog training!

I will preface this that I do not do a lot of public reviews. As a operations manager in Customer Care for a national retail sports/outdoors company, I know how all important customer satisfaction is for a business, therefore when I am 100000% on board with a service, I WILL go out of my way to give credit where credit is due. Nick May and his facility are top notch. My dog Annie had puppy board and train in October 2021 (with another trainer) and was sufficient. She still has that training embedded. After almost a year it was time to get some 'big girl' training. I had a friend that had used Nick so I started following his social media. Seemed like what Annie (and I) both needed. With a cancellation and me going on vacation the stars aligned and Annie was with Nick and his team for 2 weeks. The focus was for off leash, recall, and being OK with quiet/stay/place time and general overall training (socialization in public places with a lot of distractions). All accomplished!!!! Annie has been home a week now and we practice SOMETHING every single day (if you aren't going to put in the work afterwards, dont spend your money IMHO). Annie doesnt always mind as she may have with Nick and his team, hence working her and I together every day. Her recall is PHENOM I will say. Her stay and free are better than good. Her heel is what needs the most work. She likes to be a leash length away (unless she is tired) so its a work in progress. Nick has a pretty direct way of communicating so if you get your feelings hurt easy, leave that at the door. I appreciate his honesty and candor. All in all I would 10000% recommend Nick and his team for any dog training needs you may have!

We are happy and very pleased to see how the training and the tool has worked for us and Abby. It’s been a couple of months since her training with Nick and his team and she is doing great with her walks and overall obedience/behaviour both outside and at home. We can now have her off leash in our front yard and she will stay by my side at all times. I don’t have to worry about my kids leaving the door open :) coz the recall works great. she does her “place “when people come home with absolutely no fuss and will stay there. We are so pleased with how she’s shaping up . She is still a nervous nelly sometimes but we hope with time and experience it gets better. We would totally recommend Nick and his team at Mayday dog training !

I brought Nick and his team my two rescued staffy’s. Ruby is 6-7 years old and JJ is around a year and a half. We’ve had Ruby for about 5 years and JJ for a year. While both are very loving, especially towards people, taking them on walks was impossible. Both VERY STRONG dogs pulled and if another dog was in sight, they wanted to attack. If they saw a person, they wanted to play and pulled and whined. I was worried bringing Ruby in at her older age for fear she was set in her ways. Both dogs spent two weeks with Nick and his team. It’s been one week since I’ve picked them up and both are 100% better!! I’m able to take both on walks without pulling or lunging at anyone or any dogs. They can actually be in the presence of another dog without attacking. Both are calmer at home and just in general. I can drop the leash while outside in the front of my house and they will not move until I say so. Previously they would have been down the street. I appreciate the class given when I picked up my fur babies so I can continue to drill and train at home (and with my teen daughter) while they adjust to these new behaviors in our home. Better yet, Nick sent me home with the tools to help keep up the training. I’m glad I didn’t take my dogs to other trainers because they were cheaper. My friends and relatives that have done that are currently looking to get their dog “retrained.” Bring your dog to Nick and the Mayday team. You will not be sorry. Thanks Mayday!
