Lucky Star Dog Training

We were referred to Lucky Star Dog Training by three of our friends after we got our first puppy, Allie (golden doodle). We couldn’t be more thankful for Jennifer and Aaron and the care and training they gave to our Allie girl! Two of the hardest things we were navigating with a 40lb puppy was how hard she yanked on the leash while walking and when she would jump on our guests or our kids (sometimes knocking them over). We really wanted her to be safe with the kids and others and we decided to do training with Lucky Star. And boy are we glad we did! When we went to pick up Allie and learned what she had learned we were amazed! We really believe it was worth the investment especially for the many years we hope to have her! She sat the entire time on her “place” while Aaron walked us through the training and a squirrel even ran by right in front of her (she would yank our arm off before) and she didn’t even move while on her place. We were shocked! Now when we come in our home or our guests come over she stays in her place and waits for us to come to her. She is still her fun and playful self but now knows not to jump on others, yank the leash on walks and she listens so well. Walks are so peaceful now and we are able to walk her with a loose leash on the ground and she does great as we walk by other people and dogs. She was a good puppy before but now she is a great puppy! We couldn’t recommend Lucky Star Dog Training enough! We also appreciate how much they cared for her too. We sure missed her during training and they were so kind to send pictures, videos and have been available and so helpful if we have any questions. We already have it scheduled for Allie to come stay with them for a weekend this summer and I know she will be excited to see them too!

We cannot thank Jennifer and Aaron at Lucky Star Dog Training enough for the incredible work they did with our two Golden Retrievers—Bali (8) and Texas (5)—during their 3-week board and train program. Leaving your dogs for three weeks is never easy, but our situation was especially high-stakes. Texas has kidney disease, which requires a strict medical routine. Aaron went completely above and beyond, taking extraordinary care of her by seamlessly managing her blood pressure medication and fluid therapy. He completely tailored her training around her specific energy levels and health needs, ensuring she was never overexerted. Knowing she was in such capable, compassionate hands gave us immense peace of mind. As for the results—the transformation is amazing. We were worried that entering a structured program at their ages might be a tough adjustment or change their sweet personalities, but Bali and Texas came back to us exactly the same in essence: happy, joyful dogs, just beautifully well-behaved and significantly less anxious. Walking them and spending time with them now is a completely different, stress-free experience. I took my 8 month old poodle Rocky for the Board and Train program back in February. He is a sweet boy, but he would always pull on walks and jump on people (out of excitement of course). Before enrolling I was extremely hesitant about the e-collar training. However, Jen and Aaron addressed every single concern I had. I cannot put in words how different our lives are after the program. I am able to take him anywhere with confidence, with or without a leash! His confidence has built up tremendously, and he is a lot better socialized around other dogs and people! He doesn’t jump on guests anymore, but still is just as affectionate. One thing I must say is training is never one and done, it is a consistent practice you need to maintain. Every walk with Rocky is a training session that reinforces everything he learned at the program. Jen and Aaron have transformed our lives in ways I never expected, and I would say the bond between me and Rocky has never been stronger completing the program.

During the 3-week board and train, Aaron was very detailed on Canela's stay and provided all the pictures and videos which was greatly appreciated I was so amazed to see all her improvements and accomplishments during her stay. At the time she went she basically only knew sit and to see her go from that to healing and having her sit and you can walk off was amazing to see With my senior dog knowing basic commands but not fully trained like Canela. You can see a big difference and you can see how much life is easier having a full-trained dog versus a partially trained dog If I knew about Jen and Aaron's training, my senior dog would have gone without a doubt. And if I happen to have another dog in the future they'll be attending as well. It's completely worth every penny I tell as many people as I can about Lucky Star. You see the love and time they pour into your pup and they truly care for them My puppy now has confidence she's no longer consistently in my senior dog's face. She doesn't chase my cat around throughout the house. She's not constantly jumping on me or other people. She's able to walk with tons of distractions outside without constantly barking My house is now calm. I don't have her scratching my back door and peeling off the paint. She doesn't take food off my toddler's table anymore. She's not eating things she's not supposed to (toys, the wall, etc) or tearing up the grass it's like she's a completely new dog that found her place and she's happy with her new and proved self. And the best part with this change is that her personality is the same a big ole goofball Also, I'm really happy that during pickup when they go over everything with you, they also provide you with scenarios and you get to practice them. That way If it does happen, you're not freaked out or panicked on what to do. We couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! Jen and Aaron are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and truly care about the dogs they work with. They give you all the tools and expertise you need to continue the training at home. We never would have thought she would be able to be walked off-leash! The difference in our dog's behavior before and after is night and day—it's like we have a brand-new dog. She’s incredibly well-behaved now, but still the same sweet dog we’ve always loved.
