K9 Control Training

We’re new dog parents and have been primarily cat people for the last 20 years. We knew that having a dog required a lot of training for the (rescue) breed we adopted and also a well trained dog is the key to a safe and healthy dog. After reviewing local training facilities, we decided to go with K9 Control and we are glad we sent our young pup to the 4 week puppy training. She learned a lot during that time and continues to learn in the monthly group sessions, the home visits by the trainer, and any time we want a refresher day or week as she is growing up and going thru different stages of development. Our dog is calmer after training sessions and so are we. When your dog completes the 4 week boarding sessions, not only is your dog familiar with the assigned trainer, but the entire team is familiar with your dog and they know your dog’s personality. You’ll get great insight to take home with you as your work with your dog. Our dog learned recall (with and without the ecollar), to sit and lay down with verbal, hand/body signals, and go to her place, as well as heel to a preferred side. We know Luna loves her time there when we drop her off as she is so excited to see Ali, her trainer, every time! The staff is great and very responsive to calls or emails. Worth every penny as this is an investment in your furry family member.

Hannah at K9 did a fantastic job working with our sweet one year old pit mix, Rainey. We initially struggled with the idea of leaving her for 4 weeks but after speaking with Joe and Hannah we knew she was in good hands. Rainey can now follow directions to stay in place while we do house chores, rather than chew on things, heel at our side during walks, and her recall has improved dramatically. We get complements when we take her out because of how well behaved she is-most of the time! Hannah spent two hours training us at pick up time-perhaps the most important part-and we would highly recommend her and the K9 team for forming a solid training foundation with any pup in need.

We brought home a 13 month old Jack Russell who grew up in the country, had never been socialized and she was terrified of EVERYTHING. We tried different types of training to get this little 9 lb. dog to be less fearful and relaxed. She was riddled with anxiety. Two friends of ours had an "intervention" with us and said we needed to get help...pronto, and recommended K9 Control Training. She stayed a month with Owen and his crew. She came back a different dog. She now walks by our side in my very busy neighborhood. She is confident and calm. Owen and Joe taught her everything we need her to be. I cannot say enough good things about Owen and his assistant Joe. They have taken the weight of the world off our shoulders. Update; 1 year later. Joey is doing GREAT! She is still a very well trained little dog. She has manners and she is super good on our daily walks. I can walk her around the neighborhood on or off leash and she stays by my side. We still attend Owens free classes twice a month which we both enjoy. She probably doesn't need to go any more but it's really for me to continue keeping her fine tuned. I really enjoy the free classes. It's so great to see these dogs that have had so many problems and watch them grow into happy, loving members of the family. And I grin from ear to ear in class because she makes me so proud. Her fears of people and noises are just about gone. She now approaches people for a pat instead of shying away...even children.Before she was trained I couldn't get her to go out in the courtyard due to neighborhood noises. Now she goes out on her own and by herself and enjoys sniffing around, sunbathing and playing ball. She LOVES to play ball and I take her out on the lake everyday and she is the best little fetch dog I've ever had. I am so pleased with what Owen and Joe did for my little girl and I still HIGHLY recommend K9 Control Training. Thank you guys, so much!
