Good Dog Enrichment & Training

Good Dog was one of the best decisions we made when it came to getting support with our adopted rescue pup. There was a lot of work that needed to be done, and Cait and the team were so helpful in creating a tailored plan for our pup and supporting us in integrating the training and interventions used. Highly recommend the reactive dog class, day training, and private training sessions if you have a reactive dog! 2 years later, our dog navigates the world so much better!

We booked a private lesson in hopes of working on a problem area we've been having in training our adult rescue dog. He was already well-trained in the basic commands through another program, but still has issues with puppy-mouthing due to his being a stray for most of his life. As part of the booking process, we had a lengthy phone consultation with Good Dog about how our only focus for the private lesson was the puppy-mouthing. When we showed up for the lesson, however, the trainer didn't seem to have been briefed about what was discussed during the phone consultation at all. We ended up having to spend the first 15 minutes of the 45-minute lesson explaining to trainer our dog's background, what issues we were having, what we had already tried, and what our goals were, all of which we had already discussed during the phone consultation. The trainer then spent the rest of the lesson practicing skills that our dog already knew, like sit and paw, and spent very little time on the puppy-mouthing. The place itself is in a great spot and everyone there seemed nice. I'm sure their beginner group lessons are good. But, in our case, it feels like we wasted our time and didn't get our money's worth.

After a phone consultation, we decided that half days would work for my new adopted pup. He’s been to 3 so far and I’ve seen small (good) changes at home. They send detailed videos of training sessions to show you what you can work on at home. It’s helped with his basic obedience and leash manners too. It’s important to note that training sessions won’t make your pup perfect, you have to back up the work at home!
