Follow The Leader K9

Eric is a world class dog trainer and a really great guy! I adopted a dog from SB Animal shelter after she went through a training camp with Eric. He donated half her camp because she was at risk due to biting several times and being returned to the shelter. So generous and literally a life saver for my girl! In the camp he helped set a solid foundation and then worked with me weekly in the following months. She came to me with solid leash and basic commands. In the following weeks over zoom we developed awesome off leash obedience, duration work with holding commands and some fun tricks too! Eric taught me that setting clear boundaries was actually the nicest thing I could do for her— now that she knows appropriate behavior I can take her on awesome adventures! Her main issues were aggression around new people and Eric taught me how to set her at ease and define a clear system around meeting new people. We also worked on teaching her to be a good running companion on and off leash. She’s now at the point where I trust her off leash at the beach when I go surf. She knows her “place” command and will wait patiently and be polite but not too excited if people try to say hi while I am still in the water. We still use the tools and tricks that Eric taught us daily. She’s the best dog ever and I am so grateful to Eric for bringing her into my life and helping set her up for success!

Eric is a true dog whisperer! He is the real deal. He radiates love for all the dogs under his care and they love him back and respect his leadership. We brought our anxious dog to him and she stayed with him for a month. What an amazing change! We now have a confident and happy dog. I have referred many other potential clients to him and they have found in him the help that they need with their dogs too. I am so very grateful to Eric.

I would like to thank Eric for all of the work he has done in Luna!! We fostered Luna in hopes she would get adopted, but we noticed she was SUPER energetic and SUPER hyper and she had absolutely no discipline or training. We were worried she wouldn’t get adopted or she would get hurt by her erratic behavior so during the fostering process we reached out to Eric if he could teach her some basic commands to get her ready for her future family. Eric saw her, assessed her and knew she was a lot of work, and despite all of that he took her in his own home for 6 weeks and trained her completely!! She is AMAZING with recall, off leash, she does her commands and is completely different from when we fostered her. We ended up adopting her because we knew she was amazing, she just needed some help, and Eric delivered!! If it wasn’t for Eric, we wouldn’t have been able to add another furry friend to our family. We are FOREVER Grateful!!!! Thank you!!!

I brought Delilah my pitbull/akita mix to Follow the Leader K9 for several different things. Delilah is a very sweet dog, but was basically uncontrollable. One of her hobbies was chasing rabbits, squirrels, and other dogs. This was a big problem because I could no longer comfortably use hiking trails or parks. After 1 month of professional training Delilah and I are back on the trails of the wonderful Los Padres National Forest!! My wife and I have never been happier. Now that we have her properly trail trained we look forward to exploring more of the great outdoors with Delilah!! 😀 Thank you so much Eric and all the employees at Follow the Leader K9!!

I know several people who have used Follow The Leader K9 to train their dogs. In every case there was a complete transformation in the behavior of both the pet and the owner. I guess it shouldn’t come as a surprise that you can’t change one without the other but I don’t think there are many dog training programs that really get this the way that Eric does. He is very invested in the success of every dog/owner relationship because he understands that when the relationship doesn’t work out it never turns out well for the dog. Needless to say Eric is a HUGE dog lover and he has rescued countless sheltered dogs by rehabilitating them and then finding new homes for them.
