Eric Temple Dog Training

I was referred to Eric by a colleague of mine when I mentioned wanting to pursue a career in dog training. Not knowing Eric, I expected a quick 15-30 minute phone call and to never really hear from him again. The exact opposite happened, and after our phone call he offered to mentor/coach me through some different scenarios and broke down step by step how he trains a dog (depending on the scenario at hand). Through our coaching sessions he always makes it very collaborative, having me answer what I would do before telling me how he handles each situation, and then explaining why. Not only is he an amazing mentor, you can see a passion from Eric when it comes to training dogs and you can tell that he gives it everything he has. He has made such a complex subject very easy to understand. To be honest, I don’t think I would have made the jump to become a dog trainer if I didn’t have a mentor like him. If you’re looking for someone to train your dog, or looking for a mentor, Eric is the guy hands down you want to learn from.

I highly recommend Eric for anyone who is considering training for their dog. Before we started the homeschool training program with Eric, our Australian Cattle Dog mix did not understand basic commands (sit, stay, come, etc). With his high energy and prey drive, he often pulled on the leash when walking, and could not be trusted off-leash as he would run off to chase small animals and other dogs. After just 4 weeks of training with Eric, our dog Cannon is fully off-leash and loving life! When on-leash, Cannon no longer pulls towards other dogs/animals. When off-leash (with e-collar on), Cannon consistently is able to recall in any situation. I no longer have to stress every time we go for on-leash and off-leash walks, and Eric helped to improve our relationship with Cannon. Again, I highly recommend Eric and specifically the homeschool training program. Eric is knowledgeable, patient, and is able to build incredible trust with dogs from the moment he begins training!

We have a 1-year-old hound mix who’s full of energy and a bit stubborn. We worked with Eric on recall and heel training, and Saturn really bonded with him. We appreciated all the helpful tips Eric provided, especially understanding why Saturn wasn’t always responding to commands. He also taught us how to use the e-collar correctly for the best results. We will definitely consider working with Eric again in the future. We truly value his deep understanding of dog behavior and his clear, effective communication.
