Elite Florida Canine College, LLC

I left my dog in the care of Elite Florida Canine CollegeLLC and he was viciously attacked in the face by a pit bull at the facility, while he was in a kennel. See the attached photo!!! I am a travel nurse and needed to board my dog Friday through Monday and on Monday, December 16, 2024 I received a call from the owner Tara Wekstein who stated she was on the way to a vet with my dog because he had been “nipped” in the face by another dog while at her facility. The truth of the matter is is that my dog was mauled viciously requiring surgery. Then I had to take my dog back to the vet that performed the surgery only to learn that he would require yet more surgical procedures to fix his face and his jaw. I urge you strongly to consider if this is the correct facility for you. I was told by the owner that this was the first event, resulting in a negative outcome, however that no one hurt more than she did and was deeply offended that she did not consider that the dog in question sustaining the bite was actually in more pain than she could ever experience or imagine. Furthermore, Elite Canine College of Florida LLC does not even appear on the Better Business Bureau website, leading me to question the legitimacy of this operation and business as a whole. I send out this post as a warning as to what can potentially happen to your beloved Pet take heed. While Ms. Wekstein had agreed to take care of the veterinary bills then did a quick 180 and left me holding the bag for $8000 which I had to pay to Access Animal Hospital in Royal Palm Beach, there is no compensation that can heal my beloved dogs emotional scars, pain, or suffering or those of myself or all of the wonderful people who have had the pleasure to work with our amazing, sweet, friendly 5-month old Malinois puppy. To add further insult to injury, Ms. Wekstein has not provided the name of the other dog involved, nor that of the dogs owner, nor the name of the kennel tech that was handling the pit bull when this incident occurred and she informed me that she had no surveillance at her facility. Lastly she further stated that she is not sure if she has insurance coverage at this time to cover this tragic event . Meanwhile, Ms.Wekstein resides in a home valued over six hundred thousand dollars and drives a lofty Mercedes Benz truck. Buyer beware!!!
