What does the in kennel training consist of?
Durham Kennels’s Board and Train Program is designed for pet owners with busy schedules and those who need the guidance, help and expertise of an experienced trainer. If you choose this option, your dog will stay at the kennel for three weeks.
Basic obedience is on leash, on collar training and consists of the following commands: come, sit, down, stay, heel and variations of all of these. Jim will work with your dog several times a day using a method of training that utilizes firmness, repetition, consistency, positive reinforcement, and lots of love.
Upon completion of the initial in-kennel training, you will pick your dog up and have the first of six private classes. All family members ages 14 and up are invited and welcomed to attend. A critically important part of your dog’s training, these sessions are designed to teach you how to handle your dog and to ensure that you understand and can properly execute all of the basic obedience commands.

This is very common. I recommend crate training as the best option for house-breaking. Give me a call and I will be happy to give you some pointers on how to handle this behavior.

Jim is a fantastic trainer! Our dog was nearly unmanageable when we dropped her off, and by the time we picked her up she had learned to sit, heel, stay, lie down, come, and is so good at all of it! Jim also has been very patient and thorough in training all of us to deal with the dog in the best way possible. We're so glad we chose Durham Kennels!

I have had 3 dogs trained by Jim. One was a male Rottweiler, Jed, that had been rescued from an abuse situation. He was so afraid of men it took Jim awhile before he could even touch him. I appreciated the time and patience Jim took with Jed. I am a veterinarian and refer my clients to him when they are needing their dogs trained.
