Love my dog to death but let's face it, he's a problem child. He was physically abused by our previous trainer. We immediately stopped seeing the trainer and a friend referred us to Laurie at Dog Days. Best decision we ever made. Laurie is stern and has a no B.S. mentality, but that's exactly what we needed. Without her candidness, our dog would have 100% ended up in the pound. If you have a stubborn dog or want a happy dog that is fully obedient, this is the only place that I know that can help. Laurie, Adam, and Sally are dog whisperers. They will teach you how to understand your dog's needs and teach your dog how to be the best version of themself. After the first session, we already saw an unbelievable amount of progress. We've already referred our friends to Laurie, and they, too, have seen incredible improvements after the first session.

Adam took the time to get to know us and our 2 golden retrievers. He helped us identify mistakes we were making or signals we missed and overcome our shortcomings which enabled us to ensure that we are giving our dogs the consistency in training that they need to be productive (well behaved anyway) members of our family. Being outside of CO now, he regularly takes my calls offering sound advice to my "ridiculous" questions. Highly recommend!!

Don't trust these people. I went out there trusting them because I had had such a good experience with Laurie Buffington as a trainer with my golden retriever several years ago. I really got a lot out of the training and had a lot of trust in Buffington for taking care of my dog. I was sure I could get help for my new dog. I had tried training at the humane society, and there was still work to be done, and I thought I could get help with that work at Dog Days Training Center. Not so. I forgot that Laurie has a very off-putting personality (my vet once said that she has been known to make people cry), so I felt on the defensive at the beginning. It was hard to communicate because we were far away and separated by a wire fence. I feel like I could have answered some questions better. In any case, Laurie was supposed to be there the whole time -- the initial appointment was with her -- but she left without saying why or saying goodbye or giving me advice or anything. The other two trainers talked with me more about using the gentle leader and a crate, but they didn't seem very enthusiastic. I just thought they felt rushed because another dog was coming. Anyway... to get beyond this part of the story... They sent me an invoice instead of having to pay right there. That was convenient, but within 48 hours of the training session, I got a past due notice! I didn't want to give them my credit card info, so I was paying by check. I told Adam, with whom I had set the whole thing up, that I thought that was ridiculous, and he went on the defensive. He was pretty angry about it, and unprofessional. He said he even gave me a discount because I had worked with them in the past, but I think the discount was because Laurie walked out before the session was over. He then said he didn't think we were a good fit because I didn't seem interested in taking their advice. I was trying my best while I was there, did everything they asked. I think if they thought I wasn't a good fit, they should have had the integrity to tell me so while I was there and to hear my thoughts. Instead, he said it while he was angry. He also had given me a gentle leader and then complained to me that he didn't even charge me for it. I had assumed I would be returning it at another training session, because I assumed we would be doing more training. I offered to send it back or pay for it. So a while later, I got an updated invoice for $50 more than the original charge -- the initial quote for the training session and then $25 for a used gentle leader. I sent another check rather than argue about it. But I hope I don't get another past due notice -- I don't want them messing with my credit score. I wanted to go back for more training, but after experiencing this lack of professionalism, I am dismayed and hurt. Like I said, don't trust them. They may be the best for training dogs, but they are not so good when it comes to customer service or integrity. I had been talking them up to other people, ready to recommend them, but now I just can't. I'm going to let my vet know about this as well, so she doesn't recommend people go to them. Too bad. I thought they would be really helpful for me and my dog. P.S.: After seeing this review, Dog Days Training Center did refund my money.
