Diverse Dog Training

I literally could not recommend and say enough great things about Cody at Diverse Dog Training if I tried. I've had my wild hound for 3.5 years and was at my wit's end, which I reached at many points, but I was finally at my breaking point when I sought out Cody for help. I met him with an "aggressive dog" who I knew to be a gentle giant, at the core. Over the years I dealt with him nearly pulling my arm out of it's socket with leash pulling, biting me out of frustration, dragging me in the snow while lunging after dogs, terrifying any dog (and their human) that he met on and off leash, and causing me extreme anxiety - the complete opposite of which I was hoping for when seeking a companion. After two sessions I have the perfect dog that I always knew I had. We walk and hike more than ever, he's trusted off leash without any fear, we have had ZERO incidents, he walks nicely on a leash, heels when I ask, and our relationship is better than ever. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you have any doubts about e-collars, please research them more and see how all of the benefits outweigh the taboo. If you're reading this, you should just book a session, because Cody is worth every dollar, he's truly the dog whisperer whom a lot of us desperately need.

I have a hound named Archie that is now almost 3 and thanks to Diverse Dog Training I still have him!! I got him when he was 8 weeks old and I had never had a puppy before, had no clue what I was doing as far as training goes. Fast forward to the pup being about 2 years old and I was having several issues (shocker, ikr!). Each time we went for a hike, he would bay loudly and pull super hard trying to catch up to any strangers walking with other dogs. If I was strong enough to stay on my two feet and hold him back, he would spin in circles at the end of his leash and thrash his head back and forth trying to break loose. It was horrible and it got to a point where I felt like I could not longer bring my dog out in public because I wasn't strong enough to hold the leash alone through one of these episodes. I also could barely have him out in my own yard because the neighbor dogs would make noise and he would lung at the fence and act extremely aggressive. These reactions to other dogs also lead to several dog fights and made me start to question if I had an aggressive dog. Finally I was so frustrated with the out of control behavior, I called in the pros. Cody warned me that hounds are very stubborn (a fact I know all too well) and that the training would be quite a lot of work. We signed up for 3 classes initially and I was prepared to need dozens of classes before we had the problems fixed. In the 3 short weeks, Cody 100% changed the way I am able to communicate with my dog and it has been the most amazing thing! I feel like I have a brand new dog after our 3 classes. Yes, we had to do a lot of practicing and we still work on some stuff but I am finally able to bring him back into the real world! When we go on hikes he can heel and walk right past a distraction or a stranger with a pet and he does not sound as aggressive as he once did. And with a calm approach to meeting new animals, the fights have stopped as well. I cannot say enough good things about this dog trainer, if it weren't for him there is no way I would have the relationship I do currently with this super stubborn hound of mine! These classes have easily been worth the investment and I tell everyone I see with a crazy dog to call Diverse Dog Training!

Cody is an amazing trainer! I was looking for someone to help me correct the bad habits my 8 year old Rottweiler had developed on a leash. She has always played well at doggy daycare, but will act protective on a leash- a lot of pulling and lunging when we approach other dogs. I was beginning to get very frustrated- our walks are the favorite part of my day. We had several one-on-one sessions with Cody. With his help and the use of an e-collar, things have gotten soooo much better for us! We have gotten to explore new trails and areas, and it has even helped in our non-fenced yard. We just can’t thank him enough! The expense for his time and the e-collar are worth every penny, I would recommend him to everyone!

Cody was an absolute lifesaver with our two pups. We brought our older dog to see him for some aggression issues, and ended up training our second dog with him because the results were so good. We now have two happy, obedient, confident dogs that know they aren't in control and are happier for it. We never worry taking them anywhere. Cody understands dog behavior, helps you learn to interpret behavioral motivations, and teaches you a tailored, consistent approach to training. I would recommend him without hesitation for any training, from basics to separation anxiety to aggression. He goes really cares about you and your dog's relationship, and wants to see success. Plus, you know it's a good sign when you're in a session at the dog park and he knows half the dogs there - all of whom are well-behaved and happy.
