Diverse Dog Training

Honestly, Cody is a top-notch, professional dog trainer who achieved extraordinary results working with my dog, plus he's a pleasure to work with! At the beginning of our 6 training sessions, he calmly assured me that my crazy, gregarious, stubborn, independent 2 year old Glen of Imaal terrier would be able to walk off-leash, come reliably, wouldn't try to jump up on every single person he encountered, and would sit, stay, and even heel!!! It's all I could do not to laugh in disbelief when he told me that. Well, we just finished our 6th training session today and Ozzy is reliably doing all of those things! This has been such a satisfying experience. Now I have a perfect little canine gentleman. We are both so much happier on our walks and adventures. He has freedom to run around and explore, and I have joy of watching him happily being a dog while also having the calm confidence of knowing he will reliably respond to my commands. Even when he is triggered by another dog! The only thing I wish I had done was get on his schedule sooner. I held off for a long time because I was influenced by Zak George, and other reward-based trainers, that balanced training (reward for good behavior and correction for undesirable behavior) was harmful to dogs. But just reward-based training did not work for my stubborn fella and I was desperate for him to learn good manners so he would stay safe and be welcome around others. Cody's method of balanced training was gentle, didn't hurt Ozzy one bit, and HIGHLY EFFECTIVE!!! I'm so happy I chose Cody to help me with my crazy furry boy, now we will spend the rest of our lives together in a much better place ... and I know it will just keep getting better!

Cody at Diverse Dog Training set my dog and I on the right path for a long happy life together! I recently fostered my first dog, Nick (1 yr old), from a local humane society, and although Nick was largely well-behaved, his anxiety issues were concerning, because I felt that they could develop into bad habits, or worse, without some early intervention. Even in our first session, Cody taught me some leadership skills and training techniques that were completely transformative! At that point, I was sure that Nick was the perfect dog for me, and I adopted him shortly after. We have done two more training sessions with Cody, and Nick's new-found confidence around people and other dogs brings joy to my heart! Not going to lie, though, it required a lot of time and work for Nick and I, and there's still a lot more to do. But at this point, Nick and I feel like a team, and we are well on our way to being able to enjoy all the adventures that Montana has to offer!
