As a professional dog walker, I highly recommend Canine Starr for dog training and dog walking! Joe is a true pro who has helped me with a few of my own clients, and I have seen firsthand how skilled of a trainer he is. I’ve watched him work with scared, anxious, and slightly aggressive dogs, and he definitely knows what he’s doing when it comes to obedience and behavioral training. He gets excellent results. Whenever clients are in need of a trainer in Bushwick or anywhere in Brooklyn, he’s the one I recommend. Joe has a great vibe, is super knowledgeable, and has such a calm, confident demeanor with dogs which they immediately respond to. Hands down the best dog trainer in Bushwick!!!

I was very nervous to have my dog boarded and trained for a few days. She is smart and can be a little anxious. She is young and it was the first time I have left her. The experience was soooo wonderful! The care that was given to her was beyond what I had expected. I recieved many wonderful vids/pics of her with her new friends, and learning new things. She came back even better than when I had left her. I saw zero signs of her being worried....I think she had a blast! I'm so happy with the experience we will definitely be keeping this as a part of her life moving forward. Couldn't recommend more

I recently boarded my 6-month-old puppy with Joseph for two nights (three total days) after also doing several training sessions with him at home, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. He is incredibly patient, attentive, and skilled — you can tell right away that he truly understands and cares about dogs. The training sessions we did before boarding made a huge difference, and Joseph continued reinforcing that training while she stayed with him. She came home with noticeably better leash manners, stronger obedience, and was more relaxed on walks and in new situations. While she was boarded, Joseph kept me updated with plenty of photos and videos, which put my mind at ease. Communication was easy, and he was completely reliable throughout. I especially appreciated how thoughtfully he introduced her to new situations, other dogs, and good manners. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, knowledgeable, and caring to train or board your dog, I can’t recommend Joseph highly enough.

10/10 Came highly recommended by my dogs trainer. I have two dogs, one who very reactive to people and dogs which can be very challenging at times if you’re not keen to reading their body language — Joseph does a solid job with getting them both to listen and they come back very happy from their walks :) a plus that he works with my last minute requests with my job being unpredictable at times. AND SENDS PHOTOS AFTER EVERY WALK. <3

My dog, Ollie is a small rescue who has a very hard time controlling his excitement to the point where he would become extremely reactive. He would spin, lunge, bark and choke himself trying to get to other dogs. It was a very stressful situation because my other dog started mimicking his behavior. After multiple trainers with many different approaches (that didnt necessarily work out) I found Joe on reddit. Joe worked extremely hard with me and Ollie to help teach Ollie how to stay calm. Most importantly, Joe taught me how to change my approach to handling Ollie. Ollie completed a board and train program and is now able to enjoy his walks, pass dogs, and live up to his amazing potential. Joe honestly cares about helping your dog, and will work with you to figure out the best solution for your situation. I couldn't recommend him any higher!
