8-Week Board and Train Program My dog Beatrix (Bea) just finished the Canine Starr 8-week board and train program in Bushwick, and I couldn’t be happier. She’s 60 lbs at 16 months old, and when I adopted her from Waldo’s Rescue at 5 months old, she was already fearful of loud cars, skateboards, sometimes people, and often times dogs. As she got older, her reactivity escalated, lunging or growling at all dogs on a leash, chasing every squirrel or pigeon, and panicking around anything with wheels. Her obedience was also inconsistent, and as a super smart working dog, she often challenged me. I’d heard amazing things about Joseph from friends and people at the dog park, but I was still anxious about sending her away for 8 weeks. In the end, it was the best decision I could’ve made for both Beatrix and myself. Even after just two weeks, I saw a noticeable change in her confidence and focus at our check in session, which reassured me of any uncertainty. Joseph was incredibly communicative throughout— sending an overview of what they’d work on, what to expect, and instructions for how to continue the work at home. He also provided daily updates with candid photos and videos of what Bea’s up to / how her training is going. He’s organized, patient, and genuinely cares about the dogs (and owners) he works with. Beatrix came home still her silly, energetic, loving self, but now she’s confident, composed, and far easier to manage day-to-day in NYC. I’m so grateful for the entire experience and already have friends reaching out after seeing her progress. I highly recommend Joseph and Canine Starr to anyone considering training at any level.

It’s always a stressful process finding a trusted dog walker and boarding. Thankfully my coworker recommended Joseph to me. I have two rescues, one is a tripod and they’re both anxious. Joseph is super thoughtful and patient with his approach with my dogs. They’ve learned to trust him over time and love their walks with him. I’ve also boarded with him and my dogs thoroughly enjoyed their time with him. Joseph has great communication and always sends the best updates on my pups. Highly recommend! 💖

Absolutely fantastic service and in my opinion, the best, not just in the neighbourhood, but that my wife, dog or myself have experienced. Canine starr not only improved our dogs behaviour and attitude but changed his whole mood and confidence towards many hurdles he faced. What we thought were proactive steps to training and engaging our dog only did so much. To see a professional spend less than a dozen sessions with our pup and to see that much improvement, not just discipline wise but mood and personality improved beyond expectations. Definite 5 star service and highly recommended. Even just for walks to take pressure off schedule made a difference. Great rates and availability! Fantastic operation!
