After adopting a 2-year-old rescue who'd had practically no training, we knew we'd need some help with her, and we'd heard good things about BRC. Those things turned out to be 100% accurate. We started both of our dogs on weekly lessons at BRC (our older boy needed a refresher, too) for a couple of months before their dropoff at the board-and-train program. With just those hour-long lessons and the little bit of homework Cameron gave us, there was marked improvement in both dogs, but especially in our younger dog. If you put in the work, both you and your dog will be happier. The dogs have now finished their monthlong board-and-train course and the difference in their confidence and behavior is remarkable, even in our dog who had previously been formally trained a few years ago. We now have clear, simple daily routines to keep the dogs engaged in their good habits, and tools to help them (and us) navigate new experiences. There has also been some marginal improvement in the behavior of our dogs' owners (i.e., us)! A big, big part of well-behaved dogs depends on their humans’ understanding of what motivates the dogs and how best to communicate with them. Cameron and Courtney are very skilled (and very patient with anxious dog owners) at helping people understand what works best for each dog. They are also very generous with their time both before and after the board-and-train course, and are always available to answer questions and clarify things. If you want to improve life with your dog and your dog's happiness, a training program like Blue Ridge Canine Academy's is very much a worthy investment of your money and time.
