About Best Paw Forward

We offer a variety of positive reinforcement dog training obedience classes for all dogs and handlers. What does positive mean? We reward the behaviors that we like/want. We get those behaviors by using methods that do not use fear, force or intimidation. We reward by using praise, treats, toys, life rewards, etc. Trust and cooperation are the root of our relationship-based training. Our methods are based in the scientific learning theory of animals. We are dog behavior geeks and love what we do. Many of our classes are offered at several skill levels. Whether you intend to go on to shows, trials or just want to have a great dog, we have the right fit of classes for you. Everyone learns in a fun, positive and safe atmosphere!

Best Paw Forward is The Best. Many other dog trainers are great at being positive with dogs but not so great at being positive with people, understandably getting frustrated with people’s rate of learning to communicate with their dogs. Best Paw trainers excel at positive reinforcement of both dogs and their people. Feedback is positive and constructive. Much of the learning takes place by playing games with the dogs. Best Paw has increased my confidence in working with my dogs and enhanced my relationships with them. There are other trainers closer to where I live, but it’s worth the extra time to drive to Best Paw. I am so glad to have found this treasure.

Both ends of the leash are trying to understand each other, which is not an easy thing considering both ends are different species. Playing games leads to easier learning and definitely makes things more enjoyable. We so enjoy watching you and your dogs grow together while learning and having fun. Our Missy just graduated from Manners 1 and it was a wonderful experience for her. I highly highly recommend Best Paw Forward for training.

Great puppy class. A little disappointed limited opportunities for puppies to play unleashed.

Thank you for expressing your concern. We intended to do off leash puppy play at this week’s class but felt another area of socialization was a higher priority. With the hotter temperatures coming again, we wanted to make sure that new puppy parents knew of ways to entertain and exercise their puppies without overheating them. Due to time constraints, we opted to wait for puppy play until next week’s class. It is so important to be very thoughtful in these early puppy play interactions. We had started laying the groundwork the previous two weeks. The puppies are changing so much from week to week that play is always a very fluid thing. Matching up the puppies properly is very important so that they have a good quality interaction with other pups. Being that we were up against the clock, we didn’t want to rush it at this week’s class. There are still two more weeks of class with opportunities for off leash play. Please contact me if you have further concerns. We look forward to seeing you next week.

They follow a genuine science based, force free, positive reinforcement training style. You can be sure they'll set you up for a long lasting, healthy, and positive relationship with you and your dog. Lisa, Pam, Roxy, and the rest of the crew are super friendly and knowledgeable. We LOVE this class! We have truly noticed a significant difference in Reuben from the first day of class where he was all over the place to now, where he sits and even lays down during class. This has been a wonderful experience not only for Reuben, but for us as we continue to learn how to train him. Thus, also creating an incredible bond with Reuben. Prior to the class, we felt lost as we didn’t know how to train Reuben properly. This class was extremely detailed and helpful, and the practice homework helped even more. We train Reuben everyday and he always looks forward to when we do - we have learned that he is very food driven :)! Thank you so much for the impeccable communication and experience. We highly recommend Best Paw Forward!
