I recently completed the GOAT Training Camp program with my 20 month old Bernese Mountain Dog, Miles. I can't say enough great things about Bill & Krista! We live in Wilmette and had done a "similar" training program with a popular daycare/training facility closer to us but I was not satisfied with it at all. Miles didn't have any MAJOR issues - but I'm a big believer in training and we still needed work with his leash walking and his crazy hyper greetings when guests came over. He also has major FOMO and a problem just relaxing in general at times. After just a few days with Bill & Krista - we saw VAST improvement. The main thing that sets Balanced Behavior apart from all of the others in my opinion is the structure of their program. At other programs - you drop your dog off at a "daycare setting" (which presents problems to begin with) and then they give you one or two sessions to quickly go over everything and send you on your way. I find this to be very unrealistic for long term results. Balanced Behavior is strictly a training facility - so there are only a handful of dogs there each day and they do not interact. This allows them to learn to relax and "just be" even when there are distractions. They also do a teaching session with the owner EVERY single day of the 10 day program - so you really get a chance to learn, ask questions, and get a really great foundation to be able to incorporate everything at home. I made a round trip from Wilmette to Palatine twice a day for the 10 days of the program - but it was worth it for the quality of training. Is Miles perfect now? Of course not. But he has VASTLY improved on walks and at settling/greeting visitors which was my #1 concern. I also learned so much about obedience and training in general and I feel confident continuing it at home. I would 100% recommend Bill & Krista and the GOAT program to anyone that wants a quality program that actually gets results and teaches not only your dog - but you as well.

We were referred to Balanced Behavior by our son, a friend of the owner Bill. Our then 8 mo old puppy is a blue heeler- very high energy, very smart, very mischievous and no boundaries. We were pretty much at the end of our rope with her, and were considering rehoming her. Bill and Krista saved us from having to give her up. I can’t say enough wonderful things about their dedication to helping not just the dog, but just as importantly, the owners. We are still a work in progress with high expectations of having a well behaved pet. If you have a “problem “ dog or you just want your dog to be a better version of itself, please send them to Bill. You will be happy you did!

Bill and Krista are great, very personable and great dog trainers. They tailor the training to you, your dog, and the specific issues you’re going through. They are also very accommodating if you need to reschedule or come in early. Great place to take your dog, especially if there are fear, aggression, etc types of issues. They help you and your dog feel confident and ready to take on anything!

Balanced Behavior Dog Training Center was definitely the place that my promiscuous girl needed. While she already was very friendly, sweet and loving she was naughty and very demanding. After this amazing training we finally have a dog that behaves well and is no longer on naughty list 😉.

Oh my gosh, I wish I would have found Balanced Behavior earlier! We had a wonderful experience. It’s all about consistency! My dog Thumper had quite the energy! Bill & Krista taught me about that consistency. My dog was a jumper, overly excited meeting people, would pull on walks and a barker! Thumper has become a polite dog when meeting people, has become an excellent walker and is so enjoyable to walk! Balanced behavior gave me the tools to use at home and it’s ok to tell friends to ignore your dog when visiting, makes the dog much calmer and all happier. Not only did they train my dog they trained me! It’s that consistency! Although my dog is still a barker, you can’t expect miracles after all my dog is a Shepherd Pyrenees mix!
