Auburn Leach K9 Academy

Auburn trained our German Shepherd mix several years ago, and she has been a well-behaved dog ever since. In fact, he stopped by recently and she saw him pull up in the driveway and got so excited I couldn't keep her quiet (she's a talker). She loves Auburn to this day and remembers him on sight. We've had 6 dogs since moving to VA and Auburn has either trained or interacted with every one of them, and they've all loved him and his staff.

After my father had a stroke, he was unable to keep his dog and asked if we would take him. Charlie is a Shih Tzu who was rescued, but he was very mean and aggressive because of how previous owners 'trained' him to be over-protective. It didn't help that Charlie is also naturally an Alpha dog, and was used to getting his way. The great service started when Auburn was willing to drive to Lynchburg from Stuart's Draft to pick up Charlie at the vet where he'd been boarding while my Dad recuperated from his stroke. Along the way, they provided updates and pictures by text, and then delivered him back to Lynchburg when the training was completed. Auburn had Charlie for a complete re-do. We were amazed at how much he changed. He was much friendlier, and even snuggly and affectionate. Is he perfect? No, but the improvement is astonishing. I don't know exactly what Auburn did, but it was very effective. After spending his time at the K9 Academy, we were able to give my Dad's dog a home without worrying about his past behavioral problems. We were all (my wife and I plus my Dad) very pleased with the results, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Auburn Leach and the K9 Academy.

I can say with all honesty that Auburn saved my dog's life! I rescued a 2-year-old Shiba inu that had absolutely no training or socialization. Shiba's are temperamental at the best of times and extremely pack-oriented. When I first met Effie, she would not let ANYONE near her she didn't already know, and she even tried to bite me. Though I was willing to try, I was not sure if she was savable. I knew that it would require a specialist who knew how to handle the most difficult cases. After 7 weeks with Auburn, Effie is a completely different dog! She is no longer aggressive with people and is, in fact, quite happy to let just about anyone pet her. She is, leash, voice and hand-signaled trained, as well as fully crate-trained. Effie is even doing better with other animals; she is currently living with two cats and we have very few issues. As has been said in other reviews, there is no such thing as a “magic fix” and it takes work from both the dog and the owner. You must be willing to continue to work with your dog using Auburn’s training methods, as the level of success will only be as good as the amount of effort you are willing to put in. However, he will set any owner up for success by giving your dog a base on which you can build on. I cannot recommend his services enough!!!

If you are willing to put the work in and be trained yourself, Auburn can and will fix your dog. We use his training and boarding service for our dog, Max. He's a 5 year old, 75 lb pit bull mix. He had already bitten two people and we were hours away from putting him down until we found Auburn. Auburn and Mike took Max for 6 weeks and made him a different dog altogether. They reset him completely and gave us the tools to keep him in our family. He's not perfect, but he is still part of our family. If you employ their service, don't expect your dog to come back to the exact same environment and be a different animal. They'll give you advice on how to change your routine and habits concerning your pet. if you follow them, you'll get the results you're looking for. IT WILL TAKE TIME AND DEDICATION FROM YOU, THE DOG OWNER. Nancy has been wonderful in her administrative roll. Mike has been Max's favorite trainer from day one. Auburn is fantastic with advice, training, and follow ups for our family. A big thank you to K9 Solutions and staff for everything you've done for us!! Highly recommend! They have a customer for life in me.

They board the dogs they train! Never worry about deciding who to leave your dog with again, when these guys train your dog, they will also board him/her for a great price! You have plans to tan on the beach for a week, meanwhile your dog is getting quality care with a dose of training on the side. While in their care, your dogs behavior will be under highly trained supervision. Nothing like hitting a little reset button, while you get to relax. We used Auburns training and each time we have boarded our dog he comes back better each time. Our dog is a special case and will always be alot of work, if you have a special needs dog, you know they come with a lot of patience and dedication. With the help of Auburn's k9 training and our commitment to training, we have the tools to keep our dog alive and part of our family.
