Asheville Dog Academy

- [ ] 5+ stars! So grateful for Asheville Dog Academy. Our 9 month old over-exuberant mini Bernedoodle was out of control! We chose to do the 21 day Board and Train with Violet. Birdie learned to walk on a loose leash, heel, sit, down, stay and place. Our biggest surprise after being dog owners for 30+ years was to be able to hike off leash! Violet is a very knowledgeable, responsive, and patient trainer. It is now a pleasant experience taking Birdie out in public, on walks, and even a couple of restaurants. We followed up with several sessions with Violet and participated in the group training under Anna’s leadership. Both were very helpful in reinforcing the skills Birdie learned and teaching us how to be confident owners/handlers.

We were having quite a bit of difficulty with our 3 year old rescue terrier mix. On our walks, Bella would pull hard on the leash and be overly friendly when meeting other dogs and people. Rebecca came to our rescue and began to resolve these issues on the first visit. By the second session, Bella was heeling and obeying basic commands. By the end of the fourth session, Bella could walk calmly by other dogs and people. She is such a pleasure to take on walks and to parks now. Rebecca was an excellent teacher for Bella and us as well. Rebecca is absolutely amazing. We are very pleased with Rebecca and the Asheville Dog Academy. We highly recommend. Darlene & Bruce Jones

SUCCESS!! We tried individual trainers and an intensive 8 week training program with another company but still had difficulty with excessive reactivity with our sweet boy Rolo. He was extremely reactive on a leash with other dogs, people, squirrels, in the car, etc. We avoided places where he might see other dogs and/or turn around when we saw them, knowing what was to come. We were hesitant about ecollars initially but the education Chris and Rebecca provided convinced us to try. Our lives have changed for the better! Rebecca was wonderful; calm, patient, receptive, informative, punctual, and we instantly felt comfortable. She listened and didn’t hesitate to recreate scenarios where he was most reactive to help teach us across all environments. We even went to a busy park with dogs to train and he was an absolute angel! We still can’t believe it! Not only has Rolo responded unbelievably well, he seems to actually appreciate understanding/knowing his boundaries and expectations. Our lives have changed for the better in so many ways. Rebecca was wonderful!!

Our rescue dog Thor came to us with a lot of trauma and was very reactive. He attacked our current dog and would go absolutely bonkers whenever he saw other dogs on walks. He even jumped out of the car once. But after Rebecca worked with him for two months he’s like a different dog. Now he plays in rhymes with our current dog and is a very well trained animal. I can’t say enough about Rebecca. Thor is the gray dog in the video.
