Art of the Dog Canine Academy

Having spent countless hours training my dog and researching potential board and train options after running out of other options, I wanted to leave a review for anyone else considering AOTD for training. My dog, Luka, has always been anxious and fear reactive. He would bark and lunge at any dog or child we saw, couldn't meet new people, and I was constantly on edge to prevent anything from happening. It was exhausting and stressful for both of us. After spending far more than I'd like to admit on various trainers, I hit a wall: nothing was helping, and he was only getting worse. With much consideration, my family and I put him through the Behavior Modification course. He successfully graduated in April 2026. Lauren and the AOTD staff were absolutely incredible! They gave him so much love, confidence, and positive training. He isn't "cured" - he'll always be reactive - but he is truly a changed dog, even 6 months post-graduation. He does not like most other dogs, but he can walk by 99% of them without issue. He still dislikes strangers, and new people coming into our home is still iffy, but he has loved getting to meet so many of my friends and neighbors - including getting excited to see neighbors he previously would lunge at. He still pulls if he gets overly excited, but he is amazing on and off leash. Our life is much happier and more manageable together. AOTD offers truly life changing dog training. Your dog will be happier, less anxious, and more confident - as will you. They have continued to reach out since he graduated to make sure we are doing ok, offered input after new issues cropped up, and are always open to follow-up training in home or at their facility. AOTD will love and care for your dog like their own, and I cannot recommend them enough for anyone struggling with a reactive or aggressive dog.

We had the absolute best experience with our dachshund arnie! We were very nervous initially sending our dog to a 3 week boarding training program. We had never left him for that long before. The art of the dog team took the most amazing care of him and also reassured us. They send daily updates for your pup, and go above and beyond to make sure the owners feel comfortable too. Arnie just came home yesterday and is already acting like a different dog in the best way. We are so impressed with the amount he has grown and improved in those 3 weeks and are so thankful for this team. Special shoutout to Isaiah, Ben, CJ, Marcos, Melanie, Sami, and Lauren. Art of the Dog was an excellent fit for our one year old yellow lab. He is such a sweet pup, just a spunky teenager. We were looking for some proper manners and obedience to be taught to him. He has been home for a week now and is crushing it on all fronts. We followed along through his training and watched the learning videos and are now doing our homework with him. We loved their program and are loving our new well mannered puppy so far. :)

I'm forever grateful that we found Art of the Dog. We were struggling with reactivity in our chocolate lab and we didn't know how to address it. We were actually to the point where we were scheduled to give her up for adoption because I didn't know if we were equipped to help her get to a point where she could handle meeting new people and we wanted more for her. In the days leading up to her appointment at the animal shelter, I had such a hard time with the decision. I knew she was a sweet dog and that she was just nervous around people she didnt know. I was playing with her in the back yard and I broke down crying because I knew I couldn't just give up on her. I told my husband we should check out AOD and just see if it was something that might help her. I told him it couldn't hurt to at least try and he agreed. I was really nervous about bringing her because I wasnt sure how she would handle being around a bunch of people she didn't know. Thankfully, she warmed up to the trainers and she was able to successfully complete her full training. Today was her graduation and I got to do something I wasn't sure I'd ever be able to do with her. I got to take her for a walk in a public park. The entire 5 years we have had her, I was never able to successfully take her for a walk. I could never get her to calm down and walk on a leash without pulling me around or tripping me. She would get so easily distracted by everyone and everything and she would just bark and growl. Today I got to do that. We even walked past a squirrel and she completely ignored it. I went from feeling like I'd never be able to do normal things with my dog, like take her for a walk, to finally seeing that it absolutely is possible. These trainers care about the dogs they work with. They are also really good at keeping you updated while your pup is in their program. I looked forward to daily updates and photos/videos of the progress our dog was making. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to them. I feel like a weight has been lifted and I can finally let go of some of the stress that my dogs behavior was causing me. I can see a future with a well-behaved dog. She will get to enjoy life so much more as well. I will forever recommend AOD to anyone who's struggling with their pup.
