Aft Dog Training

My family considers the AFT family part of ours. Anthony and the whole AFT crew have literally saved our family. We had a purebred lab, Dixie, who just couldn't sit still. So, we adopted a friend for her to play with from The Center for Animal Health and Welfare. Never in a million years did I think I would ever have a Pitbull in my family, thanks to the stigma that surrounds the breed. But we went to the shelter and guess who we all fell in love with?! Cooter was a match made in heaven for all of us humans and most importantly for Dixie. We quickly noticed after bringing him home, however, that Cooter had quite a few fears. And things got worse in our fenced in yard or on a walk or when a new man would come in our home. He bit one of our friends that reached over the fence to pet him in the back yard, thankfully it wasn't serious. He was afraid and ran to hide. And despite him being the biggest cuddle bug with the people he knew, we were quite worried about him biting again. Lucky for us, AFT works closely with shelters like The Center, helping countless dogs just like Cooter. We decided to give AFT a try. Both of our dogs went through AFT's board and train program, the best thing that ever happened to our family. Anthony and his staff seem to know exactly what is going on inside dogs' heads. They are amazing! Not only did our dogs learn many new things, including confidence, but it turned out that us humans had quite a bit to learn, too. Dixie and Cooter are quite bonded and were so immediately, even being complete opposites. Dixie is extremely high energy, very affectionate, and for us she didn't seem to grasp simple commands easily. Cooter is very smart, understood commands from us immediately, perfectly happy curled up on your lap for hours at a time, and afraid of his own shadow. But AFT helped our family make that work. Now, Cooter has a ton more confidence in our yard, when people come over to visit, and walking him is a positive experience now for him and us. Dixie has learned how to "take time out" and relax. She can actually sit still on command and doesn't make Cooter lose his mind anymore. Since the board and train program, Dixie and Cooter board at AFT whenever we go on vacation. They are happy to go there and love AFT. And we feel confident knowing the dogs are safe and very well cared for at AFT. We could never say enough thanks to Anthony and the AFT staff for how they helped our whole family. AFT is family to us.

I just want to say that AFT has helped my Rubie girl become a better more claim dog. She did their board and train program for three weeks. I am now able to take her on afternoon and evening walks, no more early mornings and late nights. She is able to walk past most dogs with out an issue now. I knew going into this it wouldn't be a wavy their wand magic fix it, I knew there would be work and she would still need my guidance once she came home. With their tools and help Rubie and I have become a better team and I love it. They won't just say here you go here's your dog once training is over. They go through a good two hour long go home process with you going over everything your dog has learned, and they continue to be there for you once training is over. So whenever I have a question or an issue come up I know I can come to them, ask and I will get the help I am looking for. Thank you so much AFT for helping Rubie become a more confident dog on her walks.

I’ve never written a review before - but the positive experiences we’ve had with AFT are too many not to share for those seeking help. We have 4 dogs. Our young exuberant Pit Bull and our Jack Russel-Beagle mutt both benefited from different classes at AFT. Our pittie learned Basic Obedience and Ecollar, changing his life! He went on a 60 mile backpacking excursion thanks to the training and tools we learned how to leverage. Our boy was formerly stray with a sweet temperament but no idea how to behave. Now he’s living his best life since learning what is expected of him. Our mutty girl did Obedience 2 and agility (which she loved with Lindsey). We had known she was fast, but before the class she lacked confidence - afterward we had a new shared interest - jumping up on stuff on command :) This team has given my family ideas for how to improve balance and joy with our entire motley crew (who also attend the daycare and boarding as needed)! The training experiences we’ve had at AFT led me to refer 2 loved ones who also had life changing experiences (one dog saved from being displaced from home due to behavioral issues). This place is the real deal. They’re there with professional support and compassion when you’re not sure where to start or how to do better. Highly recommend!
