Wild Child Dog Training

Sydney and the Wild Child team are the best of the best. Sydney loved our two dogs like her own and truly had such a special bond with them after only 6 weeks. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?! Sydney certainly proved that saying to be wrong! Our dogs are 9 and 6, and our only regret is not sending them to Wild Child sooner. Sydney totally transformed our fearful-aggressive Boykin and reset his entire nervous system. He is now able to engage with new people, go out in public, and actually enjoys playing! Our other Boykin was hyperactive-anxious with a lot of avoidance issues and was a difficult case all around. Sydney worked through her many issues and taught her how to communicate without using her dramatic personality as an excuse. All of this is wonderful, and the time they spent on the farm with Sydney is invaluable, but the work for us now begins at home. We have also had to be trained on how to continue their success and ensure they don't fall back into old habits. Exercise and play are key, and unfortunately, we have done them a disservice by not providing them with those outlets enough or with consistency in the past. We humanized them and have handled them with kid gloves, which has only made their anxiety and aggression worse. They are dogs and need to be given what dogs need! This process has been about training us just as much as training our dogs. Sydney has checked in on our progress and is always there to support us and answer any questions we may have. We are still learning and building our confidence with them as each day passes! Our 7 year old dog due to frequent stressful moves, life events, etc had become so frightened, fearful, stressed anytime we wanted to take them for a walk or out in public, any changes would cause great issues and he developed reactivity. It got to the point if a car drove by in the distance he would be too scared to even leave our driveway. Going for a car ride was so anxiety inducing for him he just would drool, shake and whine excessively. Anytime faced with even minor changes or things that scared him (leaves, cars, random tunes etc.) would just cause him to freeze and no longer listen, he would rather harm himself to try and get back home than try and work through his emotions or continue a walk. We could not help him at all, he was not receptive to anything we tried. So we made the drastic choice to send him to bootcamp for behavioral modification. Wild child worked with us and were flexible, accommodating and realistic about his progress (or lack there of 😅, he is a very emotional animal).Our expectations were for him to not be so scared of everything to be able to work through it and to give us help and tools to work with him on it as we knew that this would be an ongoing journey. We just want him to be a dog and to do normal dog things haha! Drax has since he's come back from bootcamp has shown so much emotional growth, he still gets fearful but not at the rate he was before and once we work through it he can also go back to being a happier dog a lot faster. He does not completely freeze to the point he will break out of his halter and run back home. He will always be a work in progress but we feel happy seeing how much happier and confident he is, how much faster he recovers from stress. His great recal skills and surprisingly his love for being on a long leash and playing. He gets to be more of a dog again, he even likes car rides now. And if we need to fine tune behavior or we get stuck we know we can reach out to them with questions or needing additional training. A big added bonus as well is their boarding, giving us the assurance that our dogs are taken care of with the potential of adding refresher trainings to their schedule. And their pack walks help keep Drax challenged. We felt quite hopeless and upset with how we were failing at helping our boy but thanks to wild child we are very optimistic with where he is at now and hopeful that we can help manage his fear and keep him a happy pup. So thank you! ❤️ A big shout out to Drax's trainer Kara as well, Drax was treated as one of her own, there was no judgment, 100% transparency and flexibility. This is not a place that will whip your dog into submission or force them. They work on play, obedience, relaxation, exploration, sniff work , rewarding good behavior etc.

We had a great experience with Wild Child Dog Training. They worked so well with our bully, Rocco, and gave us exactly the kind of puppy training we needed. Everything was explained clearly, and the approach felt practical and supportive, not overwhelming. We saw real progress and came away feeling much more confident as dog parents. Highly recommend, especially if you have a high-energy or strong-willed pup.
