We have a 1 year old Blue Heeler that we adopted with more energy and smarts than all our research could have prepared us for. Billy, our dog, is easily excited and head strong, so walks and trips to the beach are very stressful for both us and him. He also needs a lot of work on his manners. We were looking for a trainer with confidence and experience with working dogs, as the last trainer we tried didn’t seem to be able to get his attention amid all the smells and distractions. We needed someone who could gain his respect, and Tracy did just that within the first 10 minutes of meeting him. Prior to even scheduling with Tracy, she gave us tips on curbing some unwanted behaviors. We did our first private lesson with Tracy yesterday and we’ve already seen some huge improvements. Billy is learning to focus on us through distractions and is even just a much calmer dog. Tracy really took the time to explain how some of our reactions are reinforcing negative behaviors. She even included my daughter in the training session! I feel like the training session was for us as much as it was for Billy. We were sent home with information and a training plan to work on over the next 3 weeks. I feel confident that Tracy has set us up for success and am so excited to see his progress over the next few weeks!
