West Mountain Kennels, a Division of Pawling Mountain Club

Our Samoyed, Rosie, a notoriously stubborn breed, was referred to Ed Larkin and West Mountain Kennels by our vet, Dr. Paul Schwartz of Millbrook, NY. She was primarily in the hands of Ed and Melissa from November to December 2018. We visited her for our own training three times during her month’s residence and on each occasion found her happy, playful and generally in a great mood. When she finally—and it was a really long time for all of us— returned to us she was the same playful, joyous, good-natured, stubborn Rosie but was now able to be safely off-leash in Central Park and to walk with a slack leash on the streets of New York. The pleasure of calling her to come and having her turn on a dime and return is hard to describe. Over all, we couldn’t be happier. West Mountain Kennels dies a wonderful job and Ed, Melissa and the rest of the team there are clearly dog whisperers. They’ve also made clear that our on-going consistency and training of Rosie is essential for her to continue being wonderfully responsive to us.
