Well Balanced Dog Training

Our training with Meaghen and her team has been invaluable and absolutely life changing for us and our 5 year old rescue ‘China’. We had some information from the shelter, that China had never been socialized for her first 1.5 years. No leash walking, no other dog interaction, no people interaction, no car rides etc. We managed a lot but her reactiveness towards other dogs was something we really needed help with. Meaghen came highly recommended and after a first consultation we agreed to a 5 week board and train. From the first meeting Meaghen was upfront and open about her approach. It was hard leaving our dog with someone for 5 weeks. But it has been the best decision we ever made. Our dog came back more confident in herself and has grown so much. We as her owners have learned so much about ourselves. China is a regular in the Learn and Playgroup and enjoys being with her four legged friends. Wellbalanced Dog Training also offers reactive dog classes which are fun, informative and a great way to connect with other WBDT dog parents. China is a completely different calmer dog now, and we enjoy our goofy girl joining us on all our adventures.

I cannot say enough great things about Meaghen and her team over at Well Balanced Dog Training. We have two beagles, both with separation anxiety, youngest one (Chevy) more severe than the eldest (Hero). We were recommended to Meaghen by our dog walker here in Worcester, I was at my wits end with their behavior and my blood pressure was out of control. I thought I was doing everything right previously; We had done dog training in the past with Petco and other vendors. When I scheduled the meet and greet, not going to lie, I cried. I had so much anxiety from my anxiety ridden pups. You know, the dogs you see that bark and scream, lunge etc.. at everyone and everything, yep, that was them. Out-Of-Control. She first recommended to take Chevy for her board and train program, our youngest beagle because he was the worst at the time. She was straight forward on what to expect because of his age and how bad the Separation Anxiety was. After a few days of discussion, I bit the bullet and agreed. He was there for 5 weeks, started with 3 weeks but it ended up being 5. She knew by the first week, it was going to be 5 weeks, she was up front about that too, she said likely 5 weeks but we started with three. Meaghen would get on a call with us weekly for updates and progress. By week three we had an in person midsession training and he was already so far along. Less vocal but still vocal with his yips and whines (mostly because we were there and he wanted to get our love and attention). By week five we had a completely different and well mannered dog. He’s not perfect but he’s trying with ALL of our help to navigate this clearly scary world to him. On the day of take home, she sits you down with some of her team and she goes over everything YOU need to continue to do at home. The effort and attention she puts into each dog is seen, 100%. My little dude went from a 10 down to a 3 which is more than I could have ever hoped for. We are hedging towards a 2 now at home but sometimes he can get back up to a 4 or 5. You HAVE to put in the effort in order to maintain the relationship and balance that comes from the training she gives. We live in an apartment complex with other dogs and now they are the more well behaved dogs vs the other dogs. What a difference WBDT made with our pups! Lastly, I must thank her and her team because the week before Christmas is when we picked Chevy up, I was so flustered over our other dog not behaving when we did a reintroduce to Chevy, that when I asked if she could take her for a week, she took our eldest right then and there and she totally did not have to do that. We came up with a cost and a plan together and her prices are reasonable. It’s 100% a reasonable cost for the amount of work, effort, and materials put into it all. Thank you Meaghen and Team!!

I began working with Well Balanced Dog Training after I got an 8 week old English lab puppy. We first attended their Puppy School - a 5 week group puppy training class. My dog now attends their Learn and Play Group multiple times per week. I feel very comfortable leaving my dog in their care. My dog is a confident, sassy, stubborn, and energetic girl. We have come a long way in our training journey so far - all thanks to WBDT. Meaghen and her team have taught me so much, and I appreciate their willingness to answer my questions and continue to help us grow. They are very thorough, experienced, and thoughtful. I don’t know where we’d be with their help, they are the real deal.

I can't recommend Meaghen and her team at Well Balanced Dog Training highly enough! My border collie, Smith, is a highly sensitive dog who had become quite challenging to walk on a leash around Boston. His reactivity and sensitivity around other people and certain dogs made me nervous about moving into our new concierge/elevator building in the city. However, after a three-week board and train with Meaghen, Smith's transformation has been nothing short of miraculous. Smith has always been a sweet dog, but his behavior on the leash was a major concern. Thanks to Meaghen's knowledge and the dedicated work of her staff, he is now calm, manageable, and genuinely happier. The leash pulling and other annoying behaviors are a thing of the past, and he is perfectly adjusted to living in our new building. Of course, maintaining his progress requires constant effort, but Meaghen doesn't just train the dogs—she trains the owners too. She provides all the tools needed to be the best dog owners we can be. Her philosophy, experience, and personality are unmatched, and I say this after interviewing numerous trainers. Meaghen and her team at Well Balanced Dog Training have exceeded all my expectations, and I am deeply grateful for their incredible work. Well Balanced has been life changing for our reactive pup Tako. The board and train program made a huge behavioral improvement for him in a short timeframe. The follow ups have been nothing shy of amazing. You can tell they really care about the work they do and give each pup the individual attention and structure they need to succeed. The communication and tools they provided have given us the confidence to keep up the work at home. It's the only place we've felt comfortable bringing him for playgroup and boarding. Our pup absolutely loves going and we always look forward to reading his report cards when he comes home. Highly recommend, 10/10. I only wish we had gone sooner.
