I visited 5 different trainers before I decided go with Ray. What really sold me on him was his connection with Gunner (my golden retriever) and how he interacted with the dogs at his training grounds. When I first dropped gunner off with ray he was terrified of the birds and I was sure that he would never retrieve a bird. After 3 months gunner was retrieving doubles, walk-ups diversions, had mastered his force fetch, was heeling on command, and his basic behavior was unrecognizable from the puppy I dropped off day one. The biggest thing for me was that Ray taught me how to communicate with my dog. It sounds crazy but I feel like after his training Gunner and I spoke the same language and I could read what he was going to do before he even acted. I have nothing but great things to say about Ray and Webfoot Retrievers. Best money I ever spent! It will transform your dog!!

Ray Godwin is amazing in his knowledge, instruction and execution in the training of gun dogs. Ray trained 2 dogs for me at the same time for upland bird hunting. Copper and Harvey are 2 of the finest bird dogs you will ever meet. When I go bird hunting now, I rarely take my gun. I work the dogs and let my buddies shoot because working the dogs is incredibly rewarding. Those 2 dogs are the only creatures on earth that actually listen to me and do what I say and I owe that joy to Ray and Web Foot Retrievers. Louie Morgan

I’ve had two dogs trained with Ray and can say without a doubt he loves and cares for not only his client dogs but his own. Our youngest dog penny was with Ray for almost 6 months while I was deployed and when I came back she was healthy, happy, and retrieving doubles and doing walk ups. She also earned an AKC junior hunt test ribbon the following month. Ray is also willing to go the extra mile to make his clients happy, I had another dog who was afraid of the water and Ray got him a life jacket and “doggles” and proceeded to give him swimming lessons. Ray doesn’t mince words and will tell you if you are doing something incorrectly, but it is for the best interest of both the owner and dog. I would ignore all of these one star reviews from people who have never had dogs with Ray.....who are all roughly the same age... who have only one google review....and all left them within minutes of each other. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out a client had a disagreement and asked their friends to leave bad reviews. If you are serious about training your dog for either hunting or obedience I couldn’t think of a better place.
