I have a 7 yr old bulldog who started growling at me when I get near his food. We've never had aggression issues before this started. He has never bitten me, but I am worried he will. What can I do?
If not addressed it can get worse. For the time being I’d recommend making your dog wait patiently while the food is put out. Do not allow him to “rush” the bowl. He needs to understand that protecting his food is an unwanted and unnecessary behavior. However, if you are not comfortable with that, contact me ASAP so we can get to work on changing his behavior.

Why does my 2 year old Black Lab bark every time the doorbell rings?
It boils down to your relationship with your dog and what you allow and don’t allow. If the dog barks and you tell it to stop barking and it does not stop then you’ve got some relationship building to do with the dog. Dogs must understand what good behavior is.

How old does my dog need to be before I start training?
You can start training basic obedience as early as 8 weeks old. In addition to obedience, this is the best time to start introducing your dog to as many sights, sounds and smells as possible. Call me or schedule an evaluation and I am happy to provide some guidance.

My 4 yr old German Shepherd pulls me down the street when we walk. I love my dog, but can’t stand taking him for a walk anymore. Can you help with a dog who has a mind of his own when on leash?
I am sorry to hear that walks have become such a chore. Yes, I can help. I teach owners how to train their dogs to walk nicely on a loose leash. If you are interested in a training session, the best place to start is with an evaluation.

My puppy is eating/chewing everything in the house. How do I stop her?
Chewing is very common with puppies. It is important to have chew toys handy as an alternative to a household item. Show her what is an acceptable item to chew on. The ol’ “this instead of that” technique. : )

He have three large dogs. We found Lawren after much search and many interviews with others. After one visit we had been given many valuable skill and tools for successfully moving forward on our own. We would not consider going with any one else for future dog training needs.
If I could give a million stars, I would. Before working with Lawren, I was at wit's end with my golden retriever. Because of Lawren, he is much better behaved, I am a better owner, and we have a much better dynamic. I cannot recommend Lawren enough!

Lawren’s training has been transformative for our family and we are so grateful. Lawren is an incredible trainer who helped our Malinois/Lab/Britney Spaniel mix work through leash reactivity towards dogs and people and resource guarding when guests come into our house. He provided valuable information and things we could immediately start working on during our consultation. We eventually decided to do a board and train because we have an infant and toddler and knew Lawren could reset her with foundations that we didn’t have the time to dedicate towards. Lawren is a wonderful and patient educator who takes time to answer all of our questions and explain his methodologies. He’s also so kind and gave us the confidence we needed to allow us to fully integrate our dog back into our busy life without stress.
