Very Good Dog Training

I’m not one to leave reviews but this one is well deserved. Ellie has been the absolutely best trainer to our 5 month old Cavapoo. I am so happy my boyfriend and I decided to go forward with the 2 month training program and even happier that it was with Ellie that we had the pleasure to work with. She is so knowledgeable, so clear on direction, so responsive any time of the day, and fun to work with. Before deciding to train Neo we thought we were going to have to find him a new home because we did not know if we would be able to handle his high energy and have him around our 14 year old Shih Tzu and my elderly disabled father. I am so thankful for the Very Good Dog Training and their amazing team. We now have a fully off leash trained pup and we could not be more happy with his and our results. Worth every penny! Walks with him are enjoyable and I’m excited to take him to so many places with me. Thank you Ellie🙏🏼 and the Very Good Training team. You guys are incredible. 🫶🏻

Working with Stephen and Very Good Dog Training has been nothing short of an exceptional experience. My 1 year old golden retriever and I came to him with a lot of issues needing to be resolved and Stephen was always very detailed in his explanations, responsive, and overall, outstanding to work with. Prior to training, my dog had absolutely no boundaries and sense of leadership. In other words, he thought he was the boss in the house and quite frankly, he was. I was uneducated on how to effectively communicate my expectations to my dog and because of that he ended up having a bite history as well as problematic behaviors. During week 1, Stephen assessed all our needs and came with a strong plan of action on how we can establish overall leadership and work towards basic obedience. He has a unique way of breaking hard to understand subjects into easy to understand information that’s actionable. because of this, by week 4 (finished Sep 2022) my dog has been thriving and our relationship has grown tremendously. I can’t recommend VGDT training enough!

I can’t recommend Stephen highly enough. Before working with Stephen our dog was sweet but generally unpredictable and extremely difficult to walk or play with. He was bitey, he pulled, and he acted out with strangers. Working with Stephen has been amazing and a complete game changer. Stephen is extremely reliable, responsive, and a clear communicator. In less than a week working with Stephen our dog was already following some basic commands. After a month he was fully trained on-leash, and after two months we were comfortable to have him off-leash in public areas. In our third month we really pushed the boundaries and we’re now comfortable taking our dog pretty much anywhere off-leash. I can’t imagine owning a dog and not training him in this way. Our dog is now calm and composed when dealing with other dogs, humans, or really any out of the ordinary situation. I get so many complements about how well behaved my dog is and that I got “so lucky.” I have to tell them that it’s not at all about luck but about the effort in training we put in, using the right methods and techniques that Stephen taught us to use. Without that, he would be like any other dog. Stephen's attention to detail, attentiveness via text and email, and general guidance were above and beyond. But regardless of how great Stephen is, if you don’t put in the work, you won’t get the results you want. If you do put in the work you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend working with Stephen for anyone with a dog, he’s the best!

If you are reading these reviews then you most likely need a dog trainer and Very Good Dog Training is the way to go. They provide you with all of the material and equipment. They answer every question and text. They will send you videos to back up a question you ask. Our trainer was Chris and he went above and beyond. He broke everything down as clearly and as simple as possible. He was professional and very easy to talk to. They also have pack walks which are free, full of training and a great experience. These 8 weeks have been life changing for my family. So grateful we choose Very Good Dog to be part of our journey.
