We are first time bird dog owners and started taking our English Setter, Vaca, to puppy bird dog class when she was about 4.5 months old and recently started taking private lessons (with Lucas) around 6 months old. I felt that we received a really good foundation in puppy class from Scott and Lucas as we were taught how to do quartering, woah drills, and fetch drills and Vaca got time on birds. All in all, I didn't know what to expect in my first puppy bird dog class and thought we would just be letting Vaca sniff out some birds, so the level of instructions for us in class exceeded my expectations. Private lessons with Lucas has also been great as we've been learning how to train Vaca at home during the week, while also progressing Vaca up to using her nose to find birds on her own instead of being guided by us onto a bird.
