Train Pro Dogs

I was disappointed in class. I felt class would have been okay for a puppy but I had an adult dog. There was no itinerary provided and space where classes were held was small and chaotic ( a room attached to a grooming shop ). One session involved objects used in close proximity to dogs I.e. wheelchair, child’s toy, walker and fire hydrant. I feel most adult dogs have been socialized beyond that point. No offer of make-up sessions. I felt $250 was overpriced for services offered. Instructor Liz was okay but should have provided more information on what was provided in classes before I signed up.

Where do I even start?! To put it simply, Marissa is the best thing that could have happened to us and our pup. Chino, a rather large Great Dane mix came to us at 6 months old. He’s a Parvo survivor and was being rehabilitated after being rescued from a hoarding situation. To say he was fearful around newcomers and lacking confidence with anyone other than his dad and I is an understatement. We had considered putting him through a training program, but the cost of it was a bit of a deterrent. But when we took him to the vet to get his eye looked at, and the vet literally refused to examine him because he was barking (he was NEVER aggressive) so much and was so fearful, that was our breaking point. I had looked into trainers before, but again, never went through with it. But I reached out to Train Pro Dogs for an evaluation and got it set up. From the get go, Marissa knew exactly what Chino needed and how she would accomplish that. Just in that first hour evaluation, they both worked so well together and she was so patient with our wildly non confident pup and I was sold. She explained the whole process to us very clearly, what to expect, how to follow through, and everything in between. We were understandably nervous leaving Chino in a two week board and train, when he hadn’t been away from us for more than 4 days in the 5 months we had him. But again, Marissa walked us through what to expect, how he would be cared for and worked with. We checked the Facebook page religiously every day for an update on how our baby was doing and to get to see how far he came in those two weeks with Marissa was amazing. Even after he completed the board and train, she’s been so patient with all three of us, working with our schedules, getting follow up appointments set up and making sure we’re doing everything we can for Chino to keep his confidence growing. We will continue to go to the graduate group classes to work with her and keep Chino’s progress going. He’s learned the “place” command, his basic sit and down, and “heel” both on and off leash. He walks phenomenally on a leash, and with the off-leash training they offered, he works wonderfully off leash even with distractions. Marissa worked wonders with him on obedience and confidence and we are all so grateful. The backstory for Chino was important to see and understand how far he truly has come. We can feel confident in his abilities and his own confidence because of all the work Marissa put into him and we will forever be grateful for what she’s done for him.
