We had an incredible experience with Jenn and John at Top Paw K9 Academy. We enrolled our 4-year-old Belgian Malinois, Cider, in their 4-week board and train program, and the results have truly exceeded our expectations. They created a customized training plan tailored specifically to Cider’s needs. Before training, she was reactive on leash toward other dogs, pulled constantly, and was completely squirrel-obsessed. Now, our walks are calm, enjoyable, and honestly something I look forward to. She hasn’t reacted to another dog since completing the program. What meant even more to me was the level of care they showed for Cider’s epilepsy. Jenn is experienced with epileptic dogs and was very mindful not to overwork her, as that’s one of her triggers. She also made sure Cider received her medication twice daily, which gave me so much peace of mind while she was in their care. I did extensive research before choosing Top Paw K9 Academy, and their knowledge, professionalism, and dedication truly stand out. This is a significant investment, but it is absolutely worth it—for both you and your dog. We’re continuing to build on her training, including working toward service dog tasks, and I feel so confident moving forward thanks to the foundation they gave us. Highly, highly recommend. Jen’s entire staff is so incredible. We put our purebred Doberman, Taz, through three week boarding train when he was six months old and it was the best thing we could’ve ever done for him. He’s an extremely stubborn dog, but very lovable and hard to train on our own. We’ve consistently gone to the group classes after our boarding train for free and every time we go we learned something new. It’s a great way to maintain your dog’s knowledge and sharpen your skills as the owner. If there’s anybody out here that’s looking to have a well trained dog. This is the way to go. You also have to know that it requires the owner to be just as disciplined as the dog for them to come out as a successful, long-term training course. I often see people complain that training doesn’t last long, but thats because the owners don’t do their own due diligence. THIS IS WHAT GROUP CLASS IS FOR!! I’m so lucky to have a trainer that allows us to go as many times as we want to keep up the skills in the good work. If you’re going to pay for boarding train, you better also go to group class so it’s worth your money. How consistent you are you with your dog matters. PERIOD. They will retain what you do at home on a weekly basis. Please please please try to do both. It is the best thing we’ve ever done. For anyone that is reading the reviews about being “too expensive” or “it didn’t work” I can guarantee that they didn’t continue group training classes and didn’t take the time to learn how to train at home. Jen will literally come to your house and help you upon request to make sure that training sticks. Notably, every time we go to group training class Taz’s favorite person is there who trained him. Taz has a unique relationship with Jen and always loves seeing her and her team. Taz is now a year and a half old and we get compliments all the time from strangers and family and friends about how well trained he is , especially for how large he is.

If you're looking for dog training, Top Paw K9 is the place to go. Jennifer and John are not only incredibly skilled trainers, but they are truly passionate about what they do. They don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to training. Instead, they take the time to understand each dog’s individual needs and use a thoughtful, behavioral approach to make sure the training fits that specific dog. We first took our dog Willow to their group training classes when she was only 12 weeks old. Willow needed a little more attention than some of the other dogs, and Jennifer was always willing to answer my questions—even ones that weren’t directly related to what was being covered in class. A few weeks after the group classes ended, we realized Willow needed more focused help than I could provide on my own, so we decided to move forward with their Board and Train program. During that time, Jennifer kept me updated on Willow’s progress and regularly sent videos so we could see how she was doing. We were also able to attend weekly one-on-one training sessions with both Jennifer and John. John was incredibly flexible and worked around our personal schedule, which we really appreciated. Jennifer also took Willow’s training beyond the facility. Willow went on weekly field trips with their group class so she could practice and strengthen her training in real-world environments. What we appreciated most is that they focus just as much on training the owners as they do the dogs. Willow has been home for less than a week, and we are already seeing the difference. We’re beyond happy with the strong foundation Jennifer and John helped build for her—and for us as owners. We highly recommend Top Paw K9 to anyone looking for knowledgeable trainers who truly care about the dogs and the people they work with.
