I have waited to see if the business owner “Jen” would honor her agreement and do the right thing but she has yet to do so. She has not so I’m now writing this review to coincide with another review left by my spouse. Jen the business owner has consistently been inconsistent she has a high lack of business etiquette she has been non-responsive. My spouse had paid for services that weren’t fulfilled, we were expecting a refund of 50% for services that weren’t completed. Due to “Jen” not replying and canceling appointments at the last minute. We chose her business for services after careful consideration with her being a Veteran and a local woman business owner we wanted to give our support in choosing her. But that was a bad choice. I don’t recommend anyone to use her business we were given excuse after excuse and cancellation after cancellation poor business and horrible business state of mind. This review pertains to my bully mix “Cheesecake”

After months of research for a local dog trainer, I reached out to Top Paw K9 Academy the beginning of December 2024 to acquire training for my dog. Jennifer’s company has amazing reviews and social media following which lead me to book a consult and a 5 training session bundle. During the first transaction I was billed incorrectly. At first, I was only supposed to pay $90 for the consult I was charged me $300 when she realized she had made a mistake I told her I was confident that I would be moving forward with training and let her know to just apply the remaining balance towards training sessions. The consult was scheduled 12/13/24 at her physical location. My dog has very severe anxiety of the car but I knew this was must. After driving 40 minutes in traffic as I am 5-10 min away I get a call to cancel the consult because something came up for Jennifer. I am not an unreasonable person and I understand life happens but this was very hard on my dog. We did reschedule the following week and the consult was completed. I then paid an additional $1300 for the 5 training sessions to be completed in my home per Jennifer. The first session was done 1/6/25. We scheduled the second session was scheduled for 1/17/25 Jennifer canceled this session day of and I did not hear from her again until 2/17/25 to reschedule I responded and then did not hear back again until 3/2/25 at this point I was extremely frustrated and let her know that I would like a refund for the 4 remaining sessions after multiple messages I did not hear back until 3/14/25 she offered a 50% refund which i agreed to. I have reached out multiple times since and have not heard back or received the refund. She has essentially taken my money and said screw me and my dog

We highly recommend Jennifer and her team at Top Paw K9! Having a lower confidence/reactive dog, I know how vulnerable it is to turn over the leash to somebody else, but they made the process as comfortable for both of us as possible. Before coming to the facility, Jennifer took time answering any questions, and on our arrival the team took it slow to make sure my dog would have the most positive transition. We’ve learned through their free education on socials, then in a virtual training course, and lastly from board & train. All have been valuable experiences for growth in our dog as well as our own knowledge! That last bit is the key because Jennifer really understands that if you’re not committed to carrying forward training with your dog, chances of success are much lower, so she’s very receptive to questions and empowering you with information to take with you. Thank you Top Paw team, we really appreciate your work and care for our bff!

We found Jen through her Instagram reels, and I highly recommend checking them out! She packs so much helpful info into short, digestible content. Jen truly understands people and dogs, she explains the ‘why’ when I need it and Monty loves going to the location. Our walks are more enjoyable, my pup trusts me more, and I feel so much more confident! Jen has truly changed our lives.
